Vehicle Detail
This is a Very Rare 1960 Thunderbird with the 3 Speed Manual and Optional B/W Overdrive This is is one Very Rare & Special Square Bird! In the model year of 1960, Ford built 80,938 Thunderbird Hardtops. Of these, 97.9% were equipped with the automatic transmission This leaves only 2.1% or about 1,700 of the Thunderbirds being built with the manual 3 speed on the column. Of these, only 0.9% were equipped with the optional $144.50 B/W overdrive, meaning less than 20 had this rare feature! And this particular Thunderbird has the B/W overdrive, making this a one very rare bird!! Absolutely one of the finest around, this car is equipped with a very strong 352 V8 topped with a new Holley Carburetor. The original 3-speed column shifter with B/W overdrive work flawlessly, and give this bird swift acceleration. The non-power steering gives the handling a nice feeling, without the over assist of power. While the manual brakes have a nice firm pedal with plenty of stopping power. The nearly flawless Arctic White paint was applied at a cost of $5,000 and is accented by period “Daytona” hood striping which really makes this a head turning bird. The Striping is a Stick-on decal and easily removed by the new owner, if he or she desires. There are a couple of minor flaws in the paint, if you really look close, but this is really a stunning finish. The hood lip does have one chip that was brushed in (about 1/4” by 1”). American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels equipped with Goodyear “Eagle #1 Nascar” tires have been added to complete the sporting look. However, the original wheel covers and fender skirts will also be included. All the original chrome and stainless were redone a few years ago, and there are only two minor flaws: The chrome surrounds at the tail lights have some minor pitting, and the front bumper has scratches below the RF parking lens. Neither is visible unless you stoop and look closely. All the glass is in excellent condition, and all the windows work as designed. Interior is nearly close to perfect, with only minor flaws, hardly worth mentioning. All the gauges work, including the original clock, which still keeps perfect time! The original radio will be included, as will the original kick panels, but a AM/FM Stereo with trunk mounted CD changer has been added at a cost of $1,063.90 (all invoices will be included) Under the hood, the engine is very nicely detailed with only some surface rust near the brake master cylinder. The heater core has been bypassed, but a new one will be included with the car. A new Generator has been installed, but the Starter Solinoid needs to be replaced. The car starts right up, but the generator light stays lit. The trunk is in show condition! All invoices of completed work will be included with this sale. If you want one of the finest and rarest 1960 Thunderbirds around, don’t pass this one up! The photos speak for themselves. Please email or call me with any questions, of if you would like additional photos. The car is located in Sanford, Florida, and you may contact Bill Martin to make arangements to see it in person at 407-878-5754 Shipping or pick up must be arranged by the buyer.
