We have been restoring this 1982 Mercedes Benz 300SD Turbo Diesel since we bought it in late 2007. We have enjoyed the car, but the financial times have caught up with us and we have to raise cash. Even though the car has a salvage title it is in mechanically very good condition. Over the last few years we have performed the following major repairs: Turbo Oil Supply Pipe Replace 10/2009 $ 603.87 Replace Sunroof Seals and Guides and Secure Clips 9/2009 $ 497.02 Upgrade Interior to Leather, new windshield, headliner and Carpet 3/2009 $ 3,000.00 Replace Radiator, Thermostat and Freeze Plug 2/2009 $ 1,609.58 Rebuild Front Suspension, Replace Engine and Transmission Mounts, Replace Oil Cooler Lines, Replace Battery and Alternator, Replace Oil Pan, Replace Rear Brake Discs and Pads, New Tires 1/2008 $ 8,337.48 Replace Fuel Hoses 1/2008 $ 264.71 Replace Crankshaft Seal, Vacuum Pump, Belts 2/2008 $ 1,420.12 Replace Fan Clutch and Rebuild A/C System 2/2008 $ 2,955.07 Repair Vacuum Elements to A/C System 3/2008 $ 1,672.67 Replace Head Gasket, Valve Job 9/2008 $ 2,782.51 Replace Water Pump 9/2008 $ 418.26 Replace Turn Indicator Switch and Stalk 12/2008 $ 343.93 In addition to the above, the oil has been changed and valves adjusted regularly (last time in April 2010). At under 190,000 miles, this car has a lot of miles left on it! What's great about the car? Plenty. Even though a relatively heavy car, it gets more than 22 miles to the gallon of diesel. The AC works well and the sunroof is fun! This is a very comfortable car for travelling. And, as you can see from the above list, a lot of the mechanicals have recently been renewed. What's not so great? The clock, tachometer and cruise control don't work, and the power seat switch for the driver's seat does not adjust the rake of the seat back.
