Up for auction is my 1980 Volkswagon Vanagon Westfalia. I purchased this one about three years ago on Ebay with the intention of fixing it up to bum around the country, but shortly after that I bought a boat of about the same age and my back just can’t keep up with both of them and I prefer to live on the boat. I’ve tried to take pictures of the camper that would depict its condition. The motor runs good, but not as strong as I’d like. It just doesn’t run like my Saab. I’m not sure how many miles are on the motor or the camper itself. The odometer was broken when I bought it. The title says 111,400 actual, but they filled it out wrong and I won't sell it like that. I’ve fixed the odometer since and it works fine now. I’ve have also fixed or replaced: The windshield. The rear view mirror. The battery (new this year). The hub caps. Two of the bumper end caps. Spark plug wires, rotor and distributor cap. The hook-ups. (The water tank fill is all new. The electric and city water cover plates were replaced). The propane tank was inspected and certified. The 12 volt sink pump was replaced but has since malfunctioned. The curtains have been cleaned and made functional. (They have faded a bit on the window side). What needs help? The gas tank seals need replacing. (you can only fill the tank about ¾ full). There’s a rubber bushing on the shifting mechanism that needs replacing. (It’s behind the gas tank). It has rust issues. ( I’ve tried to show you in the pictures what’s there). The heater controls only allow air flow to the windshield defrost. The window zipper and screen on the canvas is shot. As I said the sink pump doesn’t work. While the city water is under pressure, the faucet appears to have a small drip. The vinyl paneling cover is coming off or already off. The headliner is stained and I think it’s because it’s leaking under the luggage rack. The 12 volt light over the sink is broken. There are no rear seat belts. The horn is not working. (I had it working last year. I think it’s a ground issue in the steering column). The windshield washer fluid pump is not working. (I have a new pump but I haven’t installed it). What else? The motor is not fuel injected. It has a carburetor and the computer has been removed. (This was done prior to my owning it). The tires have plenty of tread. I know the refrigerator works on 120, but I haven’t been able to get the gas working and I don’t know if the 12 volt works. The water tank level and battery status lights by the stove worked last year when I filled the water tank. I intend to add my phone number on Saturday so anyone can call with questions.
