Vehicle Detail

Here is my 1967 Bonneville chopper. Please look over the pictures before asking questions. I have included a lot of pics. I will start with all the good. Frame is a stock front loop with a no stretch hardtail welded and then molded all together. Bike is currently registered and has a clean MO title. Paint is White and Gun Metal Grey done in a tried and true scallop pattern. I wanted the bike to look fast when it is just sitting there. Frame is Artic white with about 10 coats of pearl shot on. Rear wheel hub has been powder coated and laced to a polished high shoulder alloy rim using stainless spokes. Rear hub was pinstriped at this time. New Firestone 4.00x18 tire finishes it off. Rear fender is a ribbed front fender that has all the seams molded and hung out in full floater fashion. Seat was made by me and was covered in pleats and red thread by our local upholsterer. On to the motor, Standard issue 1967 Bonneville 650cc power plant. I used a single carb head and then welded on an adapter so I could run the Mikuni. I replaced the primary with a MAP dry clutch and belt drive set up. Very expensive but now the power really hits the ground. No slipping, no oil, no issues, and it looks freaking killer. I cut up the side cover for venting purposes and for keeping my shoe laces intact. New pistons were done a few years ago and a new oil pump. I went with the Boyer electronic ignition to end the points issue I was having. This bike will start on the 1st to 3rd kick every time. No issues. The super high and tight scrambler pipes were made by me using a bunch of scrap pipes. Underneath the wrap there are about twenty welded sections. The pipes sound killer and will most definitely wake the neighbors. Coils were mounted in the Wassel gas tank, every weld was pressure tested and then sealed with POR 15 just to make sure. The tank also had a rib molded in so it matches the rear fender. It blows people's minds and that is always a good thing. This bike has been on the road for 3 years now, it has never left me stranded. Like all old Brit bikes it leaks oil still. If it sits for a while there might be 2 drops under it but that is all. At start up it puffs a few blue clouds then cleans up its act. Next time the motor is apart I would do a valve job. Other than that there are no problems. On to the front end. I used a 1973 Mach 111 Kawasaki front end because I wanted a 2 under set up and this fit perfect. They have chrome lowers and are super skinny. New taper bearings were used when putting it together. I cut all the brake parts off an Ironhead front wheel to give it a spool look. 3.00x21 trials tire is on it now and looks amazing. Super low drag bars top off the front. Now that the whole picture has been presented before you, all you have to do is decide if you want to settle for a Triumph that looks like all the others or have one that is soup to nuts altogether better. I will include a new gasket set and list of all the parts used on the bike. If you bid on and win this bike you will be paying for it. This is a chopper, it will not be a good bike for your wife, girlfriend, grandma, 12 year old son. Get it? If you are a flake, newbie, want a "BOBBER", don't own a crescent wrench, or are afraid of a kickstarter please do not bid. I do not have the patience to deal with such people. I own a bike shop here in Kansas City. All I build are choppers and you can look at some of our bikes at www.theanchormotorcycleshop.blogspot.com . The bike won at The Horse Smokeout 2009 and I will include a copy of the article. Enjoy!
