Vehicle Detail

We are offering for auction my dad’s 1949 Chevrolet Fleetline Deluxe Aerosedan. Since he passed away in March of 2009 the car does not get used enough. Prior to the full restoration, this car was an unmolested all original North Dakota vehicle. We are the third owners since it was new. The farmer who originally purchased this ordered it loaded with accessories. When we picked it up it had on it an exterior sun visor, front and rear bumper guards, four extra small bumper guards, license plate guard, fuel door guard, front fender stone shields, deluxe hood ornament, full wheel covers, backup light, spotlight, window visors, deluxe steering wheel, deluxe push button radio and a clock. This car was an outstanding rust free original with a few dents. The restoration took over two years and is probably one of the most accurate factory original restorations you will find. No expense was spared and many hours of research were preformed to ensure this was a correct restoration. Every nut and bolt was removed, cleaned and replaced. Look at the pictures close and you will see the quality of work that went into the restoration. From the factory, the car was a light shade of green. We decided to paint the car Oxford Maroon which is a correct color for 1949. We even went as far as reproducing how some of the painting would have come from the factory. During painting we purposely had a small amount of body color over spray onto the red oxide primer underside. This is what would have been seen on a production car. The inside is near flawless with a Hampton Coach interior. The car sits on correct wide white tires and the rims are pinstriped even though the stripes can’t be seen because if the rare full wheel covers. It’s the little details which set this car apart from every other one. The day after completion, we took this beauty to the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America’s National Meet in Springfield Illinois. After judging, this car received 996 points out of a possibly 1000, it doesn’t get much better than that considering it was being judged by the most recognized group of Chevrolet enthusiasts. Every show since it has been a consistent point’s winner. This car is reliable and I would have no fear driving it anywhere. There are two items that do need attention. The car hadn’t been driven in over a year and about a week ago I fired it up and drove about twenty miles and it ran perfect. The brakes did squeak but got better as I drove it, this will probably correct itself. The only other “problem” is the speedometer. It was removed and restored again but has not been fully hooked up. This car is restored to the maximum standards of today. You are frankly better off cost wise buying an already restored car than restoring one. With the cost of paint, re-chroming, the interior and everything else involved, we have WAY more in this than we could possibly get out of it. I have to warn any potential bidders of the dangers of driving this car. It is a road hazard due to everybody looking at this beautiful ride instead of paying attention to the road and their own driving! I have a clear South Dakota title in hand. Currently in Rapid City the car can stay here for a couple months until it can be picked up. You can make a mini vacation when you come to get it and see Mount Rushmore and the beautiful scenery of the Black Hills of South Dakota. If you’re the adventurous type, fly in to Rapid City and drive it home. I’ll need 25% down in five days and the balance in seven additional days, all payments must clear prior to the title being released. Bank checks and cash will be accepted. I will contact you after the auction is over to arrange all the final details. Please ask any and all question prior to bidding. If you are in a foreign country or have low feedback please contact me prior to bidding or there's a possibility your bid might be cancelled. Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool. I had the pictures but for some reason neglected to add them to the auction. Another question was about the front end. It was totally rebuilt with NOS parts. There is no wandering or other steering problems. On May-25-10 at 19:14:49 PDT, seller added the following information: OK, I guess I also forgot to mention it has a windshield washer, oil filter and oil bath air cleaner.
