Hi Folks! Well...Tonight I am doing something I said that I would NEVER do! I;m putting my sweet Lil' Opel wagon up for sale. Due to a recent rash of back problems resulting in multiple surgeries, I am forced to let it go. I would hope this wagon goes to a REAL Opel lover! I am and have been since 1968 when my Dad bought a NEW 1968 Kadette sport coupe LS 1.9 102 hp 4peed. It was the next closest thing to the Rallye. THAT was the beginning of a 40 year love affair with the pre 76 Opels. Since then over 52 of them,any and all models were fair game to satisfy my families' love affair.(My Dad was North west Ohio's only certified Opel technician) Enough history! This is a beautiful red 2Dr. wagon(codeJJ) with a black interior(in very nice condition) It sports a very healthy 102 HP 1.9 litre with a stout automatic transmission with nice firm shifts. the odometer shows the very original 62,092 miles. Note:(miles will escalate because I Do drive it regularly) The body is original, there is no filler anywhere and the paint IS factory original. That would be laquer by the way! The car was built in Belgium in January of 1970 and shipped the US via General Motors. In my opinion they should have never stopped importing such a cost effective vehicle! I mean 26mpg in town and 30+ on a trip, it's taken them 30 years to match that performance. I know, it's just an opinion and everyone has one! Right? The T-3 headlite bulbs still do a fine job, I was going to change them to halogens but didn't have the heart. The glass is the original Belgium factory installed glass and there is alot of it! Last fall I put in a new heater core and new coolant, I did a complete tune-up on it, including adjusting the valves. That's when then NOS valve cover was installed! The Weber and electric fuel pump was already installed when I bought it. I have a NEW full set of shocks that will go with the Opel. the exhaust is good and so are the tires and brakes. This Opel could use a small amount of bodywork, it has a few dents and scratches and even a very minor amount of rust work to do, t the pictures will show just how little it does need!! The fronts of the fenders have NO rust. Even the water relief areas under the hood have no rust. The fenders at the door edges are good,no holes thru yet!! There is a thin line in the right rear under the gas lid right at the very bottom of the 1/4 panel. (can't see it from 15 feet or you must bend down just to see it!) When I got it the sellers said it had a leak that turned out to be a small hole under the battery so I hand formed the new metal to match exactly the original battery tray and rain relief trough then mig welded it back together and primed and plastic coated both the inner and outer areas before the paint went on. As far as damage there is no floor rust or damage under the carpet. The water softened the carpet nap and separated from the backing. If I were to replace anything in the interior it would be a modern loop pile carpet but the interior still looks Super!! I installed the 3 section euro tail lites, those 4 section 1970 lights are just TOO big! This car has been garaged all of it's life! It hasn't seen snow or salt! It has had a good life! The engine and drive train are strong and I would drive it ANYWHERE and do just that! It is a very solid example of German quality.
