Vehicle Detail
I thought I had it sold locally, guy from east side of state but could'ent come up with the money. So I'm listing it again under a 5-day auction and have lowered the reserve to $12,000.00. Good buy & good luck! 1971 Olds 442 convertible. This car is a driver and not a show car. It is however a genuine matching #'s 442 convertible. The car appears to have been re-painted with some interior updates earlier in its life. The exterior is painted Matador red in the W30 style but the car is not a W30 from what I can tell.It does have a after market ram air hood. It does have plastic red inner fenders. (the pic's appear to be more of an orange but the car is a pretty Red) There is rust in the quarter panel (see pic's) and some in the front of the rear wheel well. (not alot), and some bubbles at the fender. The convertible top frame has some bad bushings or joints ? it goes up and down fine but does not close tightly. A second complete conv. top frame goes with the car. The chrome is good but not perfect and the glass is all there. According to the paint code, if I crossed it right, it started out as Viking Blue (code #26. with white top. The top on the car is in good condition but has a small tear in the canvass (see pic). The trunk pan has rust (see pic) and a small rust hole in the driver side floor pan. The interior is in good shape but not show quality. The seat cover on the drivers side needs some attention. The carpet is in great shape, According to the trim tag the interior color started out as White. The car has a sport wheel but no horn button. No tic toc tac. Does not come with a conv. top boot. The convertible top up/down switch is a toggle switch? why I don't know except to say the interior has been messed with at some point in its life. However a used factory switch comes w/ the car. The motor is the original 455 and runs great. Starts every time and goes as fast as it should. The intake manifold is a aluminum edlebrock and may have come off a W30, help me if you know. The heads are a "G" head and not the "H" head of a W30. Standard exhaust system, no headers. The car does not have the ram air system but I understand that new after market ones are available. The transmission is a 400 turbo and I have not looked for the stamping #'s to verify if the trans is matching. (if anyone tells me where to look I will crawl under and check or put it on a hoist if needed. It shifts great and comes with the his/her shifter. Tires are good, all electrical appears to work fine w/ the except for the radio which was never hooked up. The underside of the car has surface rust but no rust damage to the frame all appears to be original. This car is a wonderful driver and would take very little to bring it back to its former beauty or even show condition. The odometer states 44000 miles and I cannot confirm or deny that the milage is true. However the car drives and handles like a low milage car and not one w/ over 100K miles. Being that the car is a true 442 convertible and with the color package, Viking Blue w/ white & white someone is getting a very desirable car. The car is sold where is, as is w/ no warranty implied or stated. All shipping is the responsibilty of the buyer. I will help load.
