The Basics Year: 1999 Make: BMW Model: R1100RT Color: Black Mileage: 22,030 miles Title: Clean Michigan title, no lien holders Description 1999 BMW R1100RT sport touring motorcycle for sale. I bought the bike used in 2002. I have ridden and enjoyed it for many years with no issues. I am selling the bike because it just does not get ridden enough anymore. My wife and I enjoyed riding the bike comfortably two-up. She now rides her own bike and the BMW sees very occasional use, mainly just weekend jaunts. Major Features/Options: ABS Brakes BMW system side cases (saddlebags), lockable and removable BMW system top case, lockable and removable BMW tank bag Heated handgrips Electrically adjustable windshield BMW power point on dash Mechanical “cruise control” (friction throttle) Battery Tender lead permanently mounted Aftermarket whole bike cover with storage bag Condition The bike is in fair cosmetic condition and good mechanical condition. Bike was always garage kept. Maintenance The engine, transmission, and rear drive oil were changed annually. Only BMW fluids were used. Other maintenance items were performed regularly. Engine/Chassis/Brakes The engine starts quickly. Throttle response is great and the bike is powerful and torquey. It stops reliably on Brembo brakes. If needed, the ABS brakes may help to better maintain bike control under hard braking or poor conditions. The ABS brakes function properly. The bike handles well. Electrical All electrical items (lights, horn, etc) and gauges work properly. The battery was replaced three years ago. The bike has a battery tender lead permanently attached and routed under the seat. Tires The front tire has moderate tread. The rear tire should be replaced (center wear). I would recommend replacement of both tires due to age. There are detailed pictures of the tires included in the gallery. Cosmetic I bought the bike with a disclosure from the selling dealer that it had been damaged from an accident. The whole bike was repainted; it is not a BMW factory paint job. In general, the paint could probably be classified as fair. There are a number of cosmetic paint issues. There are numerous scratches from use over the years. The side case lids were painted to match the bike color. There are probably portions of the paint that given some time, patience, and elbow grease could likely be improved through sanding and buffing. I have attempted to include some detailed pictures of the areas in the paint that are not perfect, however, as stated, in general the paint is in fair condition. The outside edge of the exhaust pipe has some road rash (see pictures). The dash guage surround has a repaired crack in the lower, right corner (see pictures). The wheels have some scratches in the paint (see pictures). One of the side case lid retention straps attachment points is broken (see pictures). I have attempted to point out all the areas of the bike that are less than perfect not to discourage you from bidding, but to try and portray the bike as honestly as possible. I realize it can be difficult to buy something as major as a motorcycle when you may not be able to inspect it before buying. I want whoever ends up buying the bike to enjoy it as much as I have and to not be negatively surprised in anyway. I encourage you, if at all possible, to inspect the bike before bidding or to arrange for a buyer’s representative to inspect the bike before you bid. I will attempt to be as flexible as possible in making arrangements for inspection before the bidding closes. The bike is in good working order. I have described any issues with the motorcycle to the best of my knowledge. There are no guarantees or warrantees for the motorcycle.
