Vehicle Detail

General Description You are looking at my 1980 MGB Special Edition and hopefully will be sufficiently motivated to join in the bidding process. I have owned this car since July of 2007 and have spent many hours and quite a few dollars making this car a reliable and pleasant form of transportation. Should you be looking for a 100 point “Trailer Queen”, please keep looking! However, should you need a reliable introduction to British car ownership, this could be right for you. I will try to explain the good and bad stuff in this write up but as always, feel free to contact me via e mail should I miss something out that is important to you. Let’s start with the “Good Stuff” Car was originally black and has at some time been refinished in the same color. Finish was dull and I have buffed it out to an acceptable level. Minor rust on both driver and passenger floor panels has been repaired and complete floor has been repainted and sealed. New carpets installed throughout. New door panels fitted, inside of doors treated with Waxoyl. No rust was evident. Windshield washer system completely replaced. New Windshield and all seals installed. NOS Radio installed with new speakers in rear panel. New antenna fitted and area behind inner fender panels treated with Waxoyl on both driver and passenger side. New dash cover fitted. Steering rack replaced together with both track rod ends. Old unit was leaking oil at both sides. Fitted with new seat covers. Four new tires with less than four hundred miles logged. New exhaust system. Original steering wheel purchased to replace after market unit. New Tonneau cover. New top fitted in past six months plus all new seals New slave clutch cylinder together with connecting hose. Weber downdraft Carburetor is fitted with auto choke. Engine runs great with no unusual noises and does not burn oil. Gearbox has no perceptible whine and shifts freely. Now let’s review the “Bad Stuff” or more to the point, what needs to be done to bring her up to show condition. The paint and bodywork looks good for a thirty year old car but would benefit from a professional refinishing job. Pictures show a few rust spots starting to show on bottom surface and should you intend to show the car they would need correction. On the subject of rust, the chassis and underside is very clean with no structural deterioration evident. Seat covers hide seats that are in need of recovering. Not bad but the bottom pads and supports need replacing, so seat covers should be done at same time. All instruments work with exception of…………..you guessed it………….. the clock! General comments I have placed a reasonable reserve on the car which I believe truly reflects its current value. I have tried hard to describe the vehicle condition as I know it without exaggeration or omission, however, your personal inspection would be encouraged. I will answer any questions you may have with regard to the above via e bay and do whatever I can to make you feel comfortable. I strongly encourage you to bid if you are in the market for a Special Edition MGB that is both solid and affordable. Good Luck Bidding
