YOU ARE BIDDING ON A CLASSIC 1966 VOLVO 122 AMAZON DAILY DRIVER - NOT A SHOW CAR Economic issues are forcing me to sell my project car, which is also my daily driver. This is a 1966 Volvo 122 Amazon Wagon that is about 70% restored. There are some positive aspects of this car that you need to know about: The engine was replaced with a brand new factory engine in the 1980'sThe transmission was replaced with a brand new factory transmission in the 1980'sThe suspension, steering and brake system was replaced in the 1980's and 1990'sThere is a new battery, replaced in March 2010There are new plugs, wires and fuel filters installed in 2010All lights and turn signals workI have repair and service records going back almost forty yearsI have two service manuals specifically for this vehicle This is what needs to be completed for a full restoration:: The body is in fair condition, but it has a little rust by the rear bumper. The bumpers are in good condition, but the brackets holding them on need to be straightened out.The car starts, but it takes a few turns. If you want, you can get a starter for under a hundred bucks. The horn does not work, but there is an aftermarket "oooga" horn that is very loud. The dash gauges do not work, but there are after market temperature and oil pressure gauges. The speedometer/odemeter does not work, nor does the gasoline level gauge. The interior is not in very good shape. There are seat covers over damaged seats.. It has been repainted sometime in it's past but the paint is holding up remarkably well.As is common with this model, there is a small rust hole on the drivers floorboard, about 4X9 inches. The clutch is newer, but could use some adjustment. Otherwise it shifts fine. This car is worth $2500.00 as it sits. A home-grown restoration will get you almost $6000.00. A full one-off restoration will get $12,000.00.There is no title to this car, as in Alabama any vehicle older than 1974 does not require one for registration, just a bill of sale with the serial number on it. It was manufactured before the standard VIN, so all it has is a serial number, 40464, which matches the registration. If your state requires a title on a near-fifty-year-old car, you should do some investigation before you bid. This is a fun car to drive and in the right hands, will make someone very happy or a nice, tidy profit with just a little more work. As I said, this is my daily driver and it has never let me down or left me on the side of the road.
