Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1949 Plymouth Deluxe with Flathead 6 engine. I purchased the car a few months ago on ebay and have since converted it from 6v to 12v with a pertronix distributor kit, pertronix flamethrower coil, 1 wire gm alternator and a new battery. car has new muffler and the interior has been previously reupholstered and is in excellent condition other than the trim around the windows which needs repainting. Car runs and drives good, could probably use a brake job, but they work great for cruising around. I also installed a newly rebuilt carburetor and a street rod style air cleaner. I have old carb and old oil bath air cleaner. Chrome is in good shape except for a few dents and some pitting on the hood and trunk emblems. very little rust except in the floor pans, drivers pan mainly but luckily you can still get them on ebay. trunk has original mat and only has a little surface rust on trunk pan. needs new weatherstripping, i also have the old heater box to go with it but it needs rebuild, i took it off and put an electric fuel pump in its place because the old mechanical one went bad, windshield wipers work great and i am unsure if the radio works or not. only gauge that works accurately is the amps gauge. previous owner thought the clutch was slipping but it wasnt, the thottle linkage was loose and about to fall off so when gas was pushed the car studdered badly, that is fixed now. i am open to trades depending on what but i do not wish to end auction early as that is how ebay stays going is thru their fees and i do not want to cheat them. feel free to email me at trentbarry@bellsouth.net I have had alot of questions about the car making a long road trip home and i think it would but i would recommend trailering it, if you know these old flathead 6 engines then you are familiar with the water distribution tube behind the water pump that plays a major role in the cooling system on these cars and to my knowledge this one hasnt been changed so the longer the trip the warmer the engine would get but the thermostat could be completely removed to help with ny coolng issues on a long trip. if i was guess i would say the car gets over 20mpg. engine runs smooth and transmission shifts smooth. if you are unfamiliar with the water distribution tube look up ebay # 370229228833 this is the only time i have ever found a new one of these and it would definately be a smart investment The Buy It Now price was lowered a little because i have found a project car that i would like to purchase when this car sells. Also I am still open to trade offers. thanks I drained the coolant today and replaced thermostat added new coolant and water mix and drove it for about 45 minutes, it got up to 180 once and stayed at 160 after that, also the oil pressure gauge works and it has 40lbs at idle and 60 or so driving. Alot of people have asked if car could be driven home and id say that it could but the brakes definately could use some freshening up but they do stop the car well enough to get by, maybe just top off the fluid and they should be sufficient.
