This auction is for 1988 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4 X 4 (4 wheel drive), which is being SOLD FOR PARTS or RESTORATION. Please read this entire description carefully before bidding. Inline 6 cylinder, automatic transmission, Power brakes, power windows, cruise control Mileage: under 203,500 original miles. Runs and drives, working AC, mild heat, passed emissions in March 2010 Strong engine and transmission (no smoke on starting or running) Good leather interior Good shocks Good tires New fuel pump (Jan '10) Good battery Have service records for last 6 years or so. Newer driver side door lock Newer electric window motor on passenger front door Newer gas tank holding straps Back half of the exhaust system (muffler and catalytic converter) is about 4 years old, in good condition, front half from manifold to converter is good also (no leaks / smell) Car can be driven as is, but brakes are weak (test drive before taking anywhere). Needs / negatives: Electric window motor on driver side front door (window is up, have used this way for about 2 years). Passenger rear door only opens from inside. Seal around rear hatch/door leaks a bit in heavy rain. Passenger door vent window has air noise at highway speeds. No other water or air leaks. Windshield has highway driving pitting, but no cracks or chips. Valve cover gasket leaks. Automatic transmission has small leak at rear (pan gasket?). Needs new front bumper, end caps, and bracket (area pushed back, may need body work around bracket, see photos). Front fender warped in that area. Occasionally starts on high idle (cold weather) and hangs longer on high idle than it should. Gas tank filler hose has leak at the top of the tank (bottom of the filler hose where it attaches to the tank). I fill the tank halfway, and this avoids any leaks (small, you can see the stain on the side of the gas tank) or gas smell. Needs rear brake metal lines and hoses replaced, but there are no leaks. Brake flexible hose fitting anchors on the body are rusty. Rear hatch cylinders sluggish in cold weather (hatch opens slowly in cold). Has a lot of rust... rear sections, sills are both rusted open underneath, and holes in rear floor pan under rear seat (see photos - seem structurally sound for now - I had plates made, see photos, decided I didn't have time). See photos, I have put rubber covers over the holes on the underside so water doesn't enter. All body panels have some kind of rust or bubbles, see photos. Top is faded and clearcoat is coming off as on the hood. Rust on inside of passenger door vent window frame. This vehicle is sold AS IS, and I've tried to describe it as best I can. There may be other issues that I am unaware of.
