Vehicle Detail

LAST OF THE MAN JEEPS - The 1986 was the last year of the real Jeeps, before Chrysler bought out Jeep and began to leverage them towards the female market by adding carpet, and vinyl trim, etc. This particular Jeep came from the factory as the best and last of the old school CJ's! From the factory this CJ-7 had the wide axles (post '82) to improve lateral stability. Jeep ran out of Dana 35's towards the end of 1986 so they pulled Dana 44's off their Cherokee line and slapped them under the years remaining CJ-7's, this CJ came factory equipped with a Dana 44 in the back. Originally this CJ was equipped with a 4.2L Inline 6 cyl. and a T-5 5 spd. While the best of the original CJ has been retained, this Jeep has been rebuilt from the frame up to incorporate the best of what's available to make this into one tough trail bust'n on/offroad vehicle! I've been building this Jeep since 2001. (4th Jeep Build). I've rock crawled it in Arizona, and run trails in Texas, Kansas, and Georgia. When components have broken, I've up gunned them to prevent them breaking again. I have had this Jeep torn down to the frame and built it back up. When building the Jeep I planned around trail stress and built in relief points. That's why I didn't go extra large on the u-joints, opting to use them as stress points so that they'd blow before the axle, hub, or driveshaft, making for an easy trail side repair. I didn't build the Jeep super tall in order to mitigate rollover risk, tires provide offroad clearance, and I've found that 33" tires provide great offroad performance while still being streetable. Ultimately this Jeep incorporates 20 years of offroad building experience, and is built accordingly. Frame - Original, fabricated heavy duty rear crossmember Body - Original (except windshield and rollbar) Rollbar and Windshield - '92 Wrangler (YJ) Engine - '98 Wrangler HO 4.0L (TJ) w/Ford 5.0 Injectors, wired OBD I ('92 Cherokee (XJ)) Transmission - 1978 Ford T-18 w/Granny Low (6.32) w/Advanced Adapters Bellhousing w/CPS mount, and Centerforce II Clutch Transfercase - Dana 300, twin stick shifters, w/Terralow Heavy Duty Output Shaft output to Tom Woods Custom Driveshaft (rear) Rear Differential - Dana 44, ARB Air Locker (3.73) Front Differential - Dana 30, Aussie Locker (3.73), Warn Hubs Tires - 33" ProComp A/T's (like new) Brakes - Dual Diaphragm Power Steering w/4 wheel disk brakes Steering - Heavy Duty Over Knuckle Hiem Joints, Awesome upgrade, almost perfectly realigned steering, much greater clearance Lift - Daystar 1.5" Shackle Lift, 2.5" Skyjacker Lift, 1" Prothane Body Mounts Other - On Board Air (OBA, A/C Compressor, Bumper Tank), 3 Core Radiator, Aftermarket Heater, Bestop Element Doors (with uppers and cargo bags), custom tire carrier, Liquid Bedliner Interior, H4 bulb conversion, Tuffy Security Console w/CD Player Radio Note - Bikini Top Only, windows blew out of my old Bestop Soft Top a couple of years ago and I never replaced it. Note - Sale includes all my accumulated parts, and I'll burn a CD with all my digital notes This is a really awesome Jeep CJ. I've wheeled with several Rubicons and they've never managed to keep up, or make it down trails that this Jeep isn't even challenged by. As much as I love this Jeep, I'm in the Army, and I've been dragging it from post to post for nearly 10 years. I've been deployed twice, and I'm getting ready to deploy again. I can't bear to think of this Jeep sitting in a garage for another year. A Jeep this solid deserves to be in the dirt! I'm practically giving the Jeep way, in consideration of the current economic conditions, so that I can hand it off to someone who can wheel it this summer. Keep in mind that this Jeep is 24 years old, and I built it for performance, not looks. While it'll turn heads, and is extremely well received by everyone who see's it, the paint isn't perfect. This is a trail Jeep, not a show Jeep. Local pick up is preferred, but I can trailer this Jeep up to 200 miles from 30905 for .50 cents a mile, or get it to a shipper (you need to coordinate the shipper). If you bid, expect to pay, delinquent winners will be reported to ebay. I'll need $500 within 72 hrs. of the auctions closing. This Jeep is for sale locally so I reserve the right to close the auction early. If you have questions, ask them before you bid, the sale of this Jeep is final.
