Vehicle Detail
Selling my 1970 Plymouth GTX 440-6 pack Air Grabber car that is showing 63,000 miles on odometer but speedometer was unhooked by previous owner when engine and trans were rebuilt. The car vin# is located on the drivers side dash, drivers door edge and radiator core support, V code is on trunk lip as well. It is the real deal and the car is insured, tagged and registered in my name and i have a clear Georgia title in my name as well. The car was located in Tennessee for the last 25-30 years in dry storage and was last registered and tagged in 1989 before i purchased it in March 2010. The tab on the left top side of the 440 engine is stamped with E 440 HP 10-8-69 which is the correct build date since car was built 12-4-69 but serial numbers on bottom right side of block do not match the car vin but the 727 HD auto trans and 3.91 sure grip rear axle are original to the car. The engine and trans were rebuilt and have about 4,000 miles on them and the engine runs best on High Octane Fuel. The 440 was bored 30 over and balanced and a 292, 509 cam was installed and the car is now pushing 550 Horses and it sounds wicked. The trans is a manual valve body with a 3800 stall. The carbs and intake are original to the car as well as the radiator. The car runs and drives and is strong but needs a little tweaking with timing, tuning etc, and i would suggest trailering it home until you have time to get it running and performing to it's full potential and have front end checked out, lights, horn, etc. I just picked up the car from the shop today where they rebuilt the center carb, installed spark plugs, fixed alternator, installed new master cylinder and cleaned, adjusted and bled the brakes. It stops straight and the pedal feels good and alternator guage temp guage function properly and car does not run hot. I drove it around town after picking it up and the air grabber hood and thmping cam and exhaust gets lots of attention. The black interior is in really good condition including the dash and all the guages look great including the factory Tic Toc Tac. The clock works great but the Tac is not hooked up since there is a aftermarket tach in floor along with aftermarket oil pressure guage. The Factory Air Grabber lever is still mounted on dash and does fuction and what a cool option it is. The original AM/FM radio is in place as well with Speaker knob under dash.. The car has been painted Midnight Blue over the original Lime Green Metallic paint. The car looks good and all the gaps are nice but paint is by no means in show condition. The floor pans are rock solid but there is rust in the center trunk pan and there is some bubbling in the paint in a few spots but car is super solid overall. All the original chrome and GTX badging is in place except for two small pieces for back tail light panel which are in the trunk. Glass is all in good shape and windows all roll up and down nicely and the doors open and shut nicely. Here are the codes off of the original fender tag: D32 - HD A 727 Torque Flite VOA - 440- 390 hp - 3 -2 bbl 8 cyl C04 - Build Date - 12-4-1969 E87 - 440-6-hp L31 - hd/fender mount turn signal N96 - shaker hood 70-71 FF4 - Lime Green Metallic V1F - Vinyl Roof - Green R23 - Plymouth GTX 2 door hardtop P3X9 - Bench seat - Black Carpet-Door panels-Instrument Panel-Headliner-Black The car is very solid and needs to be put back to the original color and i looked up 1970 GTX production numbers and this car is 1 of 328 with 440-6-pack and auto trans. I am selling the car as is where is and i reserve the right to end the auction at anytime due to it being for sale locally.
