Vehicle Detail
I am the second owner of this 1978 VW Westfalia Camper/Van. Tan exterior with tan plaid interior with wood paneling. Entire camper as far as I know is completely original. Has a canvas pop-top that is in excellent condition. The rear seat folds into a full sized bed and an interior top twin bunk when top raised. Plenty of storage including a clothing closet. Full kitchen that includes stainless sink with water tank, stove and ice chest. All working last time I checked. Exterior A/C connection. Interior circuit breaker with A/C outlet. Has original functioning cassette player and aftermarket speakers. On the mechanical aspect: Original engine, 2200 CC. Milage reads 70,000 but I am unsure if it has turned or not. It will run but the motor starves for fuel indicating fuel filter needs replaced. This is most likely due to it being in storage for an extended amount of time. The muffler has rust and needs replaced. Both batteries will need replaced. Other than the storage issues it was a solid running machine. I have had it stored for about 7 years. Started at the begining of the year and had the problems as mentioned above. Tires and wheels: I purchased brand new tires on Thanksgiving 2009. The have only 40 miles on them. Wheel have rust but minimal considering they are original. Body: Tan color with minimal rust around fuel cap and around the rear windows. Drivers side mirror glass fell out, have replacement glass for installation. Bumpers are in good condition and there are no major dents. More pictures are available upon request from serious buyers. Interior: All fabric is original with no rips or tears, does need cleaned. Original curtains with fading from the sun. Wood interior, the plastic trim is warped in places. Some paneling has come loose needing glued. When I used the propane stove it worked great, was some time ago, leak check is recommended. Water pump was also working for sink. I have never used the ice chest but was told when I bought it in 1997 I was told it worked fine. The beds are surprisingly comfortable and can sleep two adults on bottom and two children or one adult on top. Canvas pop-top: The shell has water staining but no holes. Canvas is in great shape. I'm 6ft and can stand comfortably with room to spare with top raised. No rusting in pop-top supports. Overall this would be a fun restoration and would take very minimal mechanical work to enjoy as is. I hate to part with it but have had this stored for a while and have no time to work on it. Shipping: Buyer is responsible for shipping, pick up and shipping costs. Directions will be provided to auction winner. Vehicle must be picked up within reasonable time, not to exceed 30 days after end of auction. Non-refundable $100.00 deposit that is applied to price of vehicle due at close of auction via Paypal. Remaining payment due at pick up by cash or certified check. On Apr-22-10 at 18:27:09 PDT, seller added the following information: ******* Noticed today that there is actually a small tear in the canvas on the drivers side of the pop-top. As I said before i have stored this for 7 years. Sorry for the misinformation. Also the mileage is at 61,000 not 70,000. Thanks and please send me a message if needed*********
