Vehicle Detail
This Plymouth was bought new by my Grandmother July 28, 1952 from Gus Holbert Chrysler Plymouth in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. I was 16 at the time and since she was unfamiliar with a column shift, she let me drive it home for her. I've maintained it since then. My Grandmother gave it to me in 1987 when she stopped driving after scraping the garage door jamb one day. The odometer read 37,xxx miles then. It now has 40,317. The Plymouth has been garaged in Bartlesville from new until 2006 when I brought it to North Carolina where I live. Her neighbor, a service station owner. religiously changed the oil and performed other minor maintenance chores in my absence. The engine has never been touched. I starts easily and runs quietly. In 1987 I replaced the original tires with new Coker Wide Whites, (the spare has never been on the ground). I replaced the shocks, changed points, plugs, wires and replaced front seat cushion with factory correct matching fabric. In 2008 I replaced brake shoes, cups, hydraulic lines, master cylinder with NOS, also replaced water pump and regulator at that time. It received a partial repaint in 1986, hood, top and trunk, original black enamel. Chrome is good, some excellent, some not so good, but all there. It is currently licensed in Oklahoma and insured. Title is good. She (the Plymouth) drives beautifully, starts and stops without fuss. Original 6 volt system will start her in any weather. All instruments are functional, all electrics including turn signals work. There are no rust bubbles nor any rust through anywhere. The floor pan beneath driver has been reinforced due to pin holes. A very comfortable car to drive, go anywhere in comfort and reliability. Perfect for tours and historic parades. Everyone knew someone who had a Plymouth like this and if you care to show it, will qualify for AACA/HPOF judging. PAYMENT: $100 deposit will hold the car for 10 days, pay pal, cash, or Certified bank check. Email any questions, give your phone number and I will call you back. Pick-up near Asheville, NC, Delivery is your responsibility. On Apr-21-10 at 03:10:13 PDT, seller added the following information:Additional photos are available, engine, trunk, interior, etc. send me you email and I will send you more photos. I should have included them originally, but was unfamiliar with the process. Obviously as an original family car, there are some small dings, and scratches. I have resisted trying to repair or re-chrome things, preferring to keep "her" as Grandmother kept her. I would like to keep her forever, but better to let her find a new home with someone who cares. The interior is as new. There are no stains on upholstery, she kept cotton seat covers made from flour sacks on from new and covered that with store- bought seat covers which were changed every few years. Sun damage shows some on door window sills, but very little if any fading from sun on upholstery. Front floor mat has been replaced. Rears are original and vg condition.
