Vehicle Detail
This is a strong 1968 Jeepster Commando. Bought this last year from the owner in Oregon. The previous owner had replaced all the leaf springs, installed a new exhaust system, put in newer style Jeep seats and new Jeep bumpers (I have the original seats, including the rear bench seat, and the original bumpers which are in decent shape, but have some dents, and also have the original roof rack and original oil bath air cleaner). He also installed new black auto carpet, painted it, and rebuilt the front and rear ends. Since I've owned it I installed all new tires, got two original hubcaps and a 1968 steering wheel. The distributor has been replaced and it runs beautifully. While it has a pull choke, it starts easy and runs smooth. Little things like replacing the washer pump and container, installing a new horn, replacing the speedometer cable and rebuilding the original light switch have been done. The odometer shows 87,500 miles but I have no idea if it is accurate. It does appear that the engine was swapped out at some point. The four wheel drive works well and the transmission shifts easily. There is a dent in the left front fender (see picture), but overall it is in nice shape. Thankfully it lacks the eastern salt rot and the underneath is remarkable for a truck of this age. It needs a new reverse switch for the back-up light, but the headlights have been replaced with halogens. The brakes are strong and the rear brake pads and all the brake lines have been replaced. While the emergency brake needs adjusting, it has new cables. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. If you know someone local I can show it to them and go out for a spin. Can take it to Portland for easier pickup if using transporter. On Apr-10-10 at 12:57:32 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a strong 1968 Jeepster Commando. The front ones are in, while bland, in great shape. Only one of the has the bottom track still attached. There is also a picture of an original oil bath air cleaner. Also included in the sale is a new heater core: bought it and ended up not needing it as the problem was a kinked hose.
