For sale (NO RESERVE) is my nice sporty 2005 Cadillac XLR convertible hard top...in the best possible color for a sports car...cherry metallic red! I have owned it for several years and treat it with meticulous care in cosmetics and mechanicals...just like all my collector cars. Non smoker, non pet owner, garaged in a temperature controlled warehouse...I'm ready to sell this beautiful ride to the next enthusiast. Most folks are under the assumption that this a C6 Corvette on a Cadillac body...but it is not. The Cadillac XLR is a luxury roadster, that was marketed by Cadillac, assembled in Bowling Green Kentucky. Intended to be Cadillac's flagship sports car, the XLR was based on the Chevrolet Corvette Y platform. The XLR featured its own unique styling, interior, and suspension settings, and power-retractable aluminum hardtop, along with the Cadillac NorthStar engine. It was Cadillacs answer to a high performance luxury sports car...to complete with the European luxury sports car's of the day.The Cadillac 2004 thru 2009 XLR was marketed as a luxury sports car and was equipped with luxury and convenience features. Many of the XLR's standard features were optional on a Corvette C6, and in some cases not even available. Luxury features include;1) Touchscreen GPS navigation radio with an A/M-F/M radio, CD changer2) XM Satellite Radio with OnStar full voice control, and a full Bose premium amplified audio system3) Bulgari-branded clock4) High Intensity Discharge (HID) front headlamps5) Power-retractable hardtop roof6) Perforated luxury leather-trimmed seating surfaces with power-adjustable, heated and ventilated bucket seats with a driver's memory system7) Luxury carpeted floor mats with embroidered 'XLR' logos, and wood interior trim. Bulgari also designed the gauges in the instrument panel for the 2004 XLR. The XLR featured Cadillac's 4.6L Northstar V8, and features a five-speed 5L50 automatic transmission. No manual transmission option was available for the XLR, as it was marketed as a luxury roadster, while the C6 Corvette was marketed as a sports car. There was few optional equipment available on the XLR, aside from premium polished aluminum-alloy wheels, exterior and interior color options, and different interior trim options.Car performs very well, engine sounds nice and performs smoothly, transmission is shifts terrific (transmission serviced 1 year ago), newer tires, newer battery, newer oil/filter change...no leaks or squeaks. Very minor imperfections to body (see photo of right front bumper) and interior (front windshield has a star chip, well to right of drivers view)...typical of a nicely cared for fourteen year old daily driver. Top retracts perfectly up or down...with the push of a button...truck opens and the articulated hard top folds into the trunk neatly and securely.
