Vehicle Detail
The Background:I purchased this car from my brother to use as a secondary vehicle. I have a low mileage 2009 Jeep Liberty 4X4 and want to keep it low mileage and have something with better gas mileage. At the time, I was driving from Bamberg to Aiken for work everyday ... almost 50 miles one way. Before my brother had it, the car belonged to my niece ... his daughter. She bought it with 35K miles from a dealership. The last year she had it, the A/C stopped working. She took it to Sears and spent over 3K replacing all of the A/C components and having the brakes redone, the timing chain replaced, as well as the water pump. Sears never got the A/C working properly and eventually they refunded her all of the money while she kept the parts in the car. She parked it so my brother got it from her and did a really great job of cleaning it all up and fixing some minor issues like replacing the tail light lenses and cleaning the headlight lenses. Then I stepped in and got a great deal from him ... and been driving it. I got it with 89K plus miles on it ... which is now at 99591. The Great! The interior is clean and almost new condition. As you can see in the pictures, the chrome is not fully intact around the gauges, and there is a small hole in the driver seat that I believe someone had a screw driver in their back pocket. The non OEM floor mats are not all that good, but have done a good job of keeping the carpet clean. With only those issues mention, this interior is excellent. The exterior has the original paint which has typical small scratches and dings, but is in good overall condition. There is no rust anywhere, and the fit and finish is good. I had just washed but not waxed in the pictures. The motor and transmission are tight and right ... and extremely fast. The suspension is nice and stiff so it drives and corners really well. The tires have less than 2000 miles on them, and I had the brakes checked and adjusted when the tires were replaced. The Good.I consistently get 21 to 22 miles per gallon, but you will get much less stomping into the turbo. While it is really fast and fun, driving that way is not economical. On cold days, the heat and defroster works good. The radio is a 6 CD changer with U-Connect that all works as it should. The hands free feature is crystal clear. The info section by the speedometer tells you current MPG, outside temp, direction of travel, and more ... it works as it should. Since I have owned this car, I have kept the oil changed and use synthetic due to the turbo. The Not So Good..While the front door locks work electronically and the power windows work as they should, the rear door electric locks and windows do not. Both doors need to have the power lock actuators replaced and the window regulators replaced. The rear windows have been placed up and power pulled to keep from accidentally taking them down. The rear door locks work manually. Both lock and window parts are easily replaced and can be purchased new on Ebay. I was going to replace these, but decided to sell the car instead. I mostly drive the car to work and back so manually unlocking the doors has not been an issue for me. You can also find the OEM floor mats The Ugly...The A/C has all new parts, but I have never attempted to have it checked or completed. I have no idea why Sears couldn't get it working right ... other than I questioned the sanity of taking it to Sears in the first place. Tires and brakes ... Sears ... A/C ... not Sears. Anyway, it may be a cheep simple fix for someone who knows what they are doing ... but then again maybe not. I use the 2 X 55 plus top natural air flow method. Both front windows down and the sun roof open. The second ugly is every once in a while the dash will "ding" and the check engine light comes on ... and the transmission goes into limp mode. That is, the car stays in first gear until you turn the engine off ... then it goes back to working fine. The check engine light code shows a grounding fault ... which means there is a connection somewhere that once in a while loses connection. I have pulled many connections and cleaned them, and I may have found the right one ... but then again it may "ding" on you and freak you out staying in first gear. This has happened to me twice since February. Both times, I had just started the car up when it dinged. I shut the car off and restarted ... running fine afterwards. The code both times was the ground error. Since it rarely happened, I am not sure if I got the right connection or not ... this is being stated for full disclosure. It hasn't been a big issue, and I drive the car anywhere including to Charleston and back ... 4 hours at a clip. Final Thoughts:I have a 100% Positive rating for a good reason ... I do my best to be accurate when I list anything. Please review the pictures carefully as these are part of the description. If you have any questions, then please let me know. I will answer as soon as I can. No, I will not end the auction before it should end for any reason. No, I will not add a buy it now option. I am taking a risk of losing money ... I have over 1800 into this car. This car would be worth much more with the items needing repairs made. Or, just do what I have done and drive it as is. It is a really reliable nice car. Good luck bidding.
