2003 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT GLX WAGONPLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT FULLY READING THE LISTINGRARE 5 SPEED INTROThis is a great looking and great driving VW. Garage kept since I owned, and paint condition indicates likely so before. I am in the middle of a home renovation, and really need a truck, so I am moving this on. Car runs and drives, Not without issues, but a great car for the right person and it has many new parts and upgrades Please read fully!GLX Trim This trim package is the top of the line, all options that were available except the auto trans, V8 and 4WD! Sunroof, power heated seats, all power options, cargo cover, DRLs, fog lights, Monsoon stereo, etc. Original sticker (see photos) and owners manuals included, along with 2 key fobs. Over 60 SF of cargo area, rear seat fold and go flat. The 5 Speed is rare on the wagon and on this trim level, even more rare with both. THE GOODCar clean history and passed MD state inspection on purchase, which is a very rigorous inspection. See the service history below since purchase. I have put a lot into this car including tires, battery, rear brakes, all filters and upgrades! Due for its next oil change, I will provide a new OEM filter. In addition to the below I have added:Remote radar hook up with turn off by shift in ashtray (Escort)AUX Input added to radio on dash (uses CD changer setting, press CD), stereo sounds great Custom Proclip phone mount (adjustable)Thule Roof Rails mounted on factory rackCustom mats, factory mats included as wellNew Leather Shift Boot, New shift knob Custom Wolfsburg wheel centers, extra decals included and new set of factory original center capsTHE BADEverything works, except one rear speaker, the cassette slot, and the rain sensor for the wipers (you have to turn them on yourself.) Other minor issues: headliner sagging in rear, recurrent check engine light (common issue - able to get off for emissions passage twice), wheel paint touch up needs touch up, front brakes likely needed soon, leak into driver's foot well if parked for a while in very heavy rain (sunroof drain clog?). THE UGLYThe car has two bigger issues the buyer needs to consider:Alternator light comes on intermittently, if it stays on the battery will deplete and car dies (only happened once). Newer battery recharges right up. Suspect alternator pulley as there is also a belt burning smell on occasion. Could be the alternator as well. They are not easy to access in these cars. Intermittent engine noise, car sounds like a diesel when it does this. Will require some work to diagnose, sounds like a pulley, tensioner, etc. Access work to address alternator same needed to diagnose this. Mechanic indicated however that timing belt is NOT loose, but I choose not to spend the money to fully diagnose this noise. Note- I would not recommend driving this car very far, if at all, without addressing these issues, I have priced the car low because of these issues.
