Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Up for sale is my 1980 Honda CX500 Deluxe motorcycle, just in time for some beautiful fall riding as can only be experienced on a great bike. I purchased this bike from the original owner in April of 1988 and it has been stored inside a garage ever since then to this day. This bike is mostly original and a pure joy to ride. The v-twin liquid cooled engine and the shaft drive make for some fun sounds and a great experience to ride. The exhaust has its own unique burble in a very pleasant way. The bike is in excellent condition, is mostly original, nor has it been crashed nor laid down. It runs and drives just as Honda intended it to, by running and shifting great! This bike is equipped with Honda OEM things like the engine bar protectors, the deluxe two level seat, and the rear luggage rack with the padded backrest for a passenger and a zip up storage pouch on the rear of the backrest. The changes I have made over the years are the mirrors (I like this style a lot better), foam grips that fit over the originals for a softer feel, a full size clear windshield (can't stand the wind on my face), small but tasteful side marker lights on the sides of the radiator shield for better visibility, and the paint. I had the rear fender, side covers and gas tank removed and professionally painted in a beautiful base coat/clear coat gloss black paint, as that is what I wanted back then. The paint shines beautifully and looks great! The engine starts right up and runs very consistently with no stalling nor inconsistent idling. The gas tank is good and clean with no rust as it has always been stored with a full tank of gas. The battery is BRAND NEW. Since the bike isn't driven consistently, I always keep it plugged into a Battery Tender trickle charger, and have the bike wired to just easily unplug and plug it in to keep the battery full. A brand new charger (same as I've always used) is also included. The tires are in great condition with lots of tread. I just changed the oil and filter, drained and filled the antifreeze in August, 2018 as well. Also included is the original tool kit that it came with. Repairs made over the years are new front brake pads and new rear brake shoes, new front fork seals and fluid, and spark plugs. I also have the factory Honda service manual and Clymer's manual from the original owner included. I purchased a nice used radiator back in the 90s as I'd never had a water cooled bike and wanted to be sure I had a spare, so this is included as well should the need ever arise. A Shoei full-face helmet is included. I've only worn it a couple of times in the late 80s (twice to Hill AFB as it was required); don't criticize me. The helmet is an XL and still smells like new inside. There are also additional air and oil filters so you'll know the proper part numbers to reference when you do need to purchase these items. ALSO included is a nice cover with storage pouch that has kept bike covered at all times. The cover has some fade marks as the garage I had many years ago had a window, but the bike was still always covered. The bike has about 25,700 miles on it, and had about 19,000 miles on it when I purchased it in 1988. I hate to have to let this great bike go, but as I get older, I just don't have the faster reflexes as when I was younger to feel safe riding much anymore. This bike is definitely a great collector's item due to its age and excellent condition. I have a clear title in my possession. VIN PC014104140 Any test drives would either be me driving and giving you a ride; OR I would need your car keys or full payment as collateral, but I would be following you on the test drive with my own vehicle, so your vehicle would be perfectly safe. Payment must be made via PayPal, or cashier's check (allow time to clear).
