Vehicle Detail
For your consideration: Bike: 1964 R69S Boxer twin engine with the large BMW gas tank. The large BMW gas tanks were period options and are wonderful for long trips. They are very sought after as not that many were made.. The R69S is the most collectible of the 1960's BMWs. They had limited production and have a more radical cam that provides more power on the road. It is painted Dover white which is an original BMW period color for this model. It has been pointed by the Antique Motorcycle Club of America (AMCA) and awarded a Senior First ranking 99 points! It was fully restored by Arlen Anderson 19 years ago and has a little over 7,000 miles since the engine was completely rebuilt and balanced. Sidecar: An original Steib S350 sidecar that I had restored locally and added onto the bike 7 years ago. The sidecar also is also a find as not many were made after the war as Germany was rebuilding. I had some of the steel trim on the sidecar body painted silver but the trim is steel and meant to be painted, in latter years these sidecars had more aluminum trim. I have been told their was a shortage of aluminum after WWII. I've been a motorcycle collector for the last 20 years and had at one point ten different vintage bikes (Indians, Harleys, BMWs, etc..). It's my opinion that the BMWs were the most reliable of antiques; ones that would get home...without a tow truck. Plus, BMW's '50s and '60s models have that gorgeous head-turner art deco look. We live in River Forest and you are welcome to come see the bike.* will consider selling the bike & sidecar separately. Following is a the link of a less desirable model BMW with a less rare sidecar that recently sold at the Mecum auction for $34,100: https://www.mecum.com/lots/LV0118-315095/1962-bmw-r-60-w-steib-sidecarUS only
