Vehicle Detail
I am 76 years of age and have owned and driven this pickup for past 42 years. I taught my son to drive in it. My family has finally convinced me it is time to sell it. No accidents or insurance claims is the 42 years I have owned it. At age 68 I could afford and finally started a 1st class 8 yr. body off full restoration by professionals (mechanics and auto body). I have a large box containing $55,000 in restoration receipts that will go to the new buyer. Only 1,800 miles since the total restoration and upgrades. This is not a stock pickup. It has power steering, disc brakes in front, a 300+HP 350 SBC balanced crate engine with a 700R4 four speed automatic transmission and 3:73 Posi differential. Has a receiver hitch for towing. All sheet metal and frame were either sandblasted or acid dipped and ALL RUST areas were replaced with new steel, then primed, before being painted in original 1966 'Sky Blue' GM color. In the bed, you will find beautiful red oak with a clear sealer and stainless-steel trim strips. You will find the paint and body work straight and flawless. Front and rear bumpers plus the grille are show quality triple chrome plated. A brand new deluxe 22 circuit wiring harness from LMC ($800) was installed and all lights and etc. are new. It even has courtesy lights under the dash. Has 2.5" dual exhaust with stainless steel "Magnaflow' lifetime mufflers. Exhaust is not loud, but it has a good rich throaty sound that tells you this is not a stock engine. The spare is mounted in the stock position under the new oak bed. Both NADA and Haggerty show the restored value for this truck at $50K. My preserve of $37.5K is firm. I know I will lose $17.5K when it sells, but am hopeful it will sell it to someone else who will drive it for another 42 years. Recently, two short step side Chevy pickups of the same vintage went through the Mecham auction in Monterey for $52,000 and $54,000 and both were stock. I don't believe you will find any flaws on this pickup either cosmetically or mechanically. If you go to Auto Trader Classics you will find (50) 1966 Chevrolet C10 pickups for sale. Also go to Classic Cars and EBAY. I believe my pickup is the best value currently offered for sale with a comparable level of restoration. Vintage A/C can be added fairly easily to this pickup, if desired. The new wiring harness has capacity for A/C. You can go out and buy a brand new 2018 Chevy truck for about the same amount, but it will depreciate like a falling rock, while this truck continues to appreciate every year. It's both a useful classic truck that is fun to drive (turns heads everywhere) and an investment. If desired, you could fly into the Boise, Idaho airport. I would pick you up and you could drive this truck home, literally anywhere in the lower 48
