Vehicle Detail
UP for bid is a mostly original 1959 gmc 1/2 ton long bed farm truck. truck is equip with a factory Pontiac v-8 motor. you can find some of theses 58/59 gmc pickups but this is the only one I have seen with the Pontiac motor. custom cab. with most of the trim needs some top trim and new rubber around windshield. This truck was purchased at a estate auction in Colorado. I was told by the old boys neighbor that this was a 336 v-8 and that his friend had rebuilt it and bumped it out to a 350. The old boy was a big Pontiac fan he had 2 rebuilt 455s still on engine stands 2 Pontiac tri power set ups and a 66 gto and 67 lemans. So I'm sure this motor was done right. original radio, gauges truck 4 speed. redone seat, all lights work, has a option farm bumper with tilting ball hitch, back up lights are missing out of the bumper. new exhaust ,tires , brakes. this truck runs and sounds great. steering is tight I drove this a 150 miles home on the highway I would not hesitate to drive anywhere. The only rust through is on the cab corners, front left fender replaced and right fender looks like it has had some work done on it . I have included the only numbers I can find on the motor block underneath right side. redo bed or leave it. needs spare tire. I was at a car show last week and everyone loved this old truck, and said they would leave it just like it is and just drive it, your choice REAL patina. GOOD LUCK AND THANKS FOR LOOKING. NO RESERVE, NORESERVE. block number is 5330387 and gm-4 above that. I will try and answer any question you have . I've had many different opinions on this motor. Im going by what the guys neighbor told me said the motor was grey but after being rebuilt the owner had a bunch of Pontiac blue and painted that color has a 4 barrel carb. I've been told its a 336,347 my friend said he thought it was a 389 gto motor.?? I just know in 58/59 gmc pickups with v-8 motors were Pontiac. sorry folks for some reason my computer will not post question from ebay so I will try to copy and paste. thanks question from eBay member ornocar 9/10/2018A buddy of mine has owned a 59 for many years, the 1959 V8 is indeed a Pontiac motor 389 with smaller bore, he put a tri-power set up on his from a GTO and it is a blast to cruise around in, gets lots of attention at the car shows with it's vintage patina looks and of course the tri -power setting up top. I've been looking for one for quite a while and yours is very interesting. Thanks answer from highcountry303thanks for the info
