Vehicle Detail
Selling my 2004 MB SL class 500 roadster. It is NOT currently in drivable condition - the ABC suspension requires work. The ABC system is a computer controlled hydraulic/pneumatic ride control system that operates through a primary pump, various valve modules, and pressurized struts. I can drive it for short distances (around the block basically) and the red warning light for the ABC systems comes on intermittently. When it is on, ride control is lost and it drives like it has worn-out shocks with lots of up/down travel - when the light is off, ABC is engaged and it evens out and stiffens the ride. The pump seems to be working because it does energize the struts however if you leave it sit for a day or two, they lose pressure and sink down. Have not had it checked by a mechanic for complete diagnosis. Besides the suspension issue (which can cost several thousand dollars to fix), the car is a gem, albeit a 14-year-old one. It runs great, has lots of power, fully retractable convertible top, a gazillion speakers in the factory Bose system, white leather interior, tinted windows, all-power, 7-speed transmission with auto controls, Pirelli Z-rated tires all around with good tread. In the two years I've had it I had the transmission valve body replaced with a new (not remanufactured) one, replaced both batteries, alternator, brake pads, and regular lube/oil changes. Defects (besides the suspension): this car does have some minor cosmetic defects given its age - some bubbling of the clear coat in a few areas as seen in the pictures, the leather on the driver's seat is worn (but not torn), there is a carpet stain behind the passenger seat, there is a small repair area at the very tip of the front bumper, the cup retractable cup holders are cracked, the glove box door has issues with the latch (not aligned properly). It has never been wrecked, has a CLEAN Texas title, uses Premium gas, current inspection and registration, fully insured. This is a nice car for someone that wants to invest in the repairs or use it as a parts car. I am the actual owner, not a dealer, so send me your questions and I'll be happy to respond.
