Of the 44,028 Firebird Trans Ams built in 1985, there were less than 170 roadsters made. The conversions on these cars were done by a company called Auto Forms Engineering out of Elkhart, Indiana, and were explicitly sanctioned by General Motors. They could only be ordered through Pontiac dealers and only delivered back to Pontiac dealers. Customers paid up to $14,000 for this convertible option, a considerable sum in 1985 for an option, which perhaps explains why so few of them were made. This is a super cool looking bird. The stance is right and the factor Macpherson suspension and original wheels! The body is in good condition and looks nice. It boasts smooth contours with crisp lines. Both bumpers look good. The headlights are clear and free of cracks or chips. All of the glass looks really good as well! This car runs, drives and rides incredibly well and with its nice modern touch to a timeless classic you will NOT be disappointed! Under the hood we find a STRONG running 305 and smooth shifting turbo 700r4 transmission. It pulls well through every gear and the exhaust makes it sound incredible as well! The engine bay looks really clean! As pictures show this bird presents itself very well. It is not perfect but it looks GOOD!The interior looks good and the custom seats from Autoform are in GREAT condition. The carpet is brand new and free of rips, or stains. The gauges are clear and work as they should! This car is ready to hit the road and drive to shows in style. It turns heads everywhere we drive it and people love to ask questions about the build. It gets allot of attention on our showroom floor and people love to sit in a piece of American history!
