2001 BMW 740i Runs (needs work or for parts) 235,920 milesI've owned this car for 13 years. Great car to drive. I bought it from a gifted BMW mechanic who had taken great care of it. For years he did all major work on the car since I purchased it.Why I am selling it...After enjoying it and maintaining it for years, recent problems and a busy schedules have made me decide to let it go. Outside:>Generally pretty good body condition with few dings.>Good tires...Continental Contacts...Back tires less than 5000 miles> Parallel spoke wheels 18' X 9.5" on back 18" X 8" on front.>See outside body pictures for details.>New battery last fall. Inside:>Headliner great shape replaced around 200,000 miles.>Seats F&R/leather in good shape... all adjustment/F&R heaters/controls work.>Doors...good condition... close securely/smoothly. >All windows/sunroof work well. Window mechanisms replaced in RF/LR/RR. >AM/FM/CD Changer/Cassette/Navigation system works. Rear speakers shot. >Rear window shades good. Rear window motorized screen works well Side windows screens good RR small window screen needs to be reinstalled.>All dash controls work.>Glove box works...key latch doesn't. Drive Train:>Engine runs well.>Transmission good/smooth. Changed fluid and filter at app 215,000 miles....Drained, changed filter...changed fluid...ran 100 miles...drained...replaced fluid. >Complete front suspension...control arms/ ball joints, tie rods, etc. replaced at about 220,000 miles...US parts.>Rear Struts replaced with used parts off 80,000 mile car.>Timing chain changed at 210,000 miles...valve cover removed, cleaned, seals and gaskets replaced.> No apparent oil leaks.>Power steering reservoir leak. What needs fixing...why I'm selling:>These are things that need fixing...as much as I love this car it's time to say good bye. These things happened recently, and time commitments won't allow me the freedom to fix. > ABS light comes on after a rain if car has been sitting. When driven and it warms up, and not raining the light goes out. Friend thinks its a contact.>Serpentine belt came off...appears to be some motion in water pump fan/pulley. >The radiator had a slight crack that grew when felt popped (see leak from crack in last pix)...needs replacing.>The windshield washer gear is slipping...motor runs, but gear failure won't move wipers. >Everything is fixable...just time and parts. Car can be driven onto a trailer. Extra parts included for fixes:>LR window mechanism w/motor.>2 rear seat drink holders plus trim...combo of parts will replace.>Tray for center console to replace old phone holder.>Some wheel ABS links. >Oil filter>head light washer spouts that mount on front bumper.>Lower radiator hose.>3 grilles extras.>RR upper bumper trim to replace cracked piece.>RR vent screen.
