Vehicle Detail
********SELLING NO RESERVE!!!******** I've owned this M5 for roughly five years and every time I drive it, I understand why it is revered to be one of the best (if not THE best) sport sedans of all time. I've personally maintained this car with the highest standards. Routine along with preventative maintenance was always done to keep the car running in top mechanical condition. I have detailed records of my service records that I will include to the new owner. If you'd like to see them, I can email you the list. Unfortunately, during a move, the previous owner that I bought the car from lost the service records. He told me that it was maintained through an independent mechanic in St. Louis through his ownership. Prior to that, it was maintained through another independent in Illinois. When I saw that car and had a PPI done, I believed him. CarFax shows 7 owners, which isn't exactly true. From my understanding, I'm the 5th. Car was bought in California and brought back to Illinois (owner 1 and 2, same person). Owner 3 lived in Illinois, refinanced, then moved to St. Louis. Owner 4 bought the car in 2009. I've owned it since then. The Good:- Eisenmann Race Exhaust 83mm tips with Supersprint X-pipe - Less than 1,500 miles- Rare M5 Trunk Mat. Looked for 4 years before I was able to find one in good condition - Oil analysis done ~1,500 miles ago shows that the engine is in exceptional condition- G.A.S Auto Monoball Control Arms (Not installed)- Euro Center Console - Paint is in great shape. I would rate it an 8.5/9 out of 10- Interior is in great shape. I would rate it a 9 out of 10- Undercarriage is in great shape. I would rate it a 9 out of 10 - MKIV Navigation- Does not use or burn oil- Brand new brake pads and rotors along with stainless steel lines - Centric Rotors and Stoptech Pads and lines- Cooling system redone 3 years ago at 83,400 miles. New coolant reservoir, new upper and lower lines, new thermostat, new sensors. All Genuine BMW- Can be good or bad...Clutch is original and feels great- Good or bad, trim is wrapped with a titanium finish. Original trim was Nutwood or "Nussbaum", I believe.- Rear differential rebuilt at 81,322 (Elsens Autohaus)- Only driven during spring/summer months when temperatures were above 50 degrees, consistently. No road salt present.- When stored during winter months, car was on RaceRamps and Stabil was put in the fuel tank. Battery was hooked up to Battery Tender Plus (included)- Tons of extras. Extra rear seat bottom. Extra exterior trim along the outside glass. Extra PDC Sensors. ZHP Shift Knob, Tools for belts, OEM Noah Car Cover, Original Exhaust (in one piece - so keep that in mind), Four Wheel bearings (FAG), Extra (new) BMW pork chops, Extra oil filters and Liqui Moly oil, BMW oil drain plugs, etc. The Bad:- Does have the bubbling around the gas fill neck (see picture)- Does have minor surface rust around one of the rear license plate lights (see picture)- A small dent below the trunk (see picture)- Suspension will need to be addressed within the next year or two. The G.A.S Monoball upper control arms I have are not installed. I was going to do a full suspension rebuild this upcoming winter.- Rims will need to be refurbished. There is curb rash and the paint is peeling. Prince Wheel quoted $800 for refurbishing/truing- Car was involved in a minor fender bender prior to my ownership, in 2008. The previous owner told me that the accident was sub 10MPH. Front bumper, passenger side headlight and hood were replaced with genuine BMW parts. Frame was NOT damaged and Airbags were NOT deployed. It was raining out and the car in front of him didn't have brake lights.- Tires are 40%, passenger side front tire has inside wear from a dent (and then probably driven on low pressure).-Ribbon on cluster will need to be replaced. I have the ribbon, but never felt comfortable doing the DIY. There's an eBay user that will replace the ribbon for $120.00. Summary:I'm doing my best to mention everything that I would want to know if I were going to be buying this car, good and bad. That being said, keep in mind that this is a 16-year old car. You will more than likely have things come up that will need attention - depending on your driving style. Some of those things will be cheap, others might be costly. It's the beauty and pitfall to owning an E39 M5. I recommend potential buyers to see the car in person/pick it up as opposed to shipping, that way there are no surprises. If you come and pick the car up and it's not what you're expecting, I will refund your deposit (less listing fees)...No questions asked and no negative feedback will be left. Aside from that, deposit must be made within 24-hours and full payment (upon your approval) must be made at time of pick-up or within 7-days. If you're shipping the car, I will be available to assist with loading. That is the extent of my assistance with shipping...I'm not liable for any damages incurred during loading or transit. If you have any questions, please let me know. I will do my best to have a private party inspection done, but my work schedule is fairly rigid, so I cannot guarantee that it will be done.
