I bought this Honda CR500R 13 years ago from the original owner. At that time, I was an avid collector of motorcycles and really wanted to add a CR500 to my collection. As luck would have it, I found 2 CR500's - a 1994 and a 1989 model. Both from the same guy who was the original owner for each of them. When I bought them, I started them both up, rode them for about 15 minutes, then put them both in a climate controlled garage. I drained the gas from the tank and the carb of each motorcycle, put them both on racing stands getting the tires off the ground, and put them under covers. For the past 13 years, this motorcycle (and also the 1994 model listed separately) have been in a climate controlled storage facility in this state. Over the years I sold off all of my other bikes in the collection, but had a hard time letting go of this CR500 (as well as the other one). Now the time has come. This is a 1989 Honda CR500R in excellent condition with only 2 owners (one of which rode the bike for a maximum of 15 minutes). The bike is essentially stock with only mild porting and one overbore in the cylinder. These bikes are rapidly becoming collectors items and are very hard to come across in this condition. There is nothing like this anymore. The power these bikes make is unbelievable. They are manic to ride and require a special type of person who is willing to harness the horsepower this beast produces. Certainly not for the faint of heart. I require a non-refundable $500 deposit within 1 day of auction close. The balance must be paid in cash (not check, not cashier's check, not credit card - only cold, hard cash). No shipping. Pickup must be done on or before June 17th. I am traveling after that and will be gone for 2 months so pickup must be done on or before that date - no exceptions. There will be no possibility of a test ride. The bike has been in storage for 13 years in a climate controlled storage. The hoses and cables are all in good condition, but I will not be putting gas in the machine for a test ride. We are meeting at the storage facility and there is no place to take it for a spin. If you are familiar with 2 strokes (I have personally owned at least a dozen 2 stroke motorcycles, both off road and street) you will understand that with compression (this bike has perfect compression), spark and fuel - they run.
