1996 One Owner, Cobra Convertible – Procharged, 17,300 original miles, #271 of 2510 We are auctioning our one owner and one driver Cobra Convertible that is a very difficult thing to do. I bought this beautiful machine when I was an Engineering manager at Ford Powertrain in Dearborn, MI in May 1996 new from Pat Milliken Ford in Redford, Mi. I’ve retained all original sales receipts, invoices, window sticker and marketing materials I collected from 1996 that will go with the new owner. Being a hands on engineer, and lover of Ford engines, I had very well developed and reversible bolt on upgrades done to the Cobra over the years. All of these were installed by Ford mechanics from Product development when we lived in Michigan and the supercharger dyno tuning done by a Roush calibrator who worked at the Livonia Mi Rousch operations It has been cared for and cherished the whole 22 years we have owned and has never been outside overnight, run through a car wash and only driven in rain once. It is always properly stored and covered in the winter and oil changed with synthetic every year or 3000 miles whichever comes first. Over the past 15 years, it only logs 350-500 miles/year and It hasn’t been raced but only enjoyed. When we have relocated, it has always been transported in high-end, enclosed semi truck similar to those Reliable transport uses. The black paint has been hand polished and waxed regularly with a random orbital polisher using Griot products and looks showroom; there are no dents, dings or scratches on the body. The interior is factory fresh and as new, with only slight normal wear on the driver leather seat for 17000 miles, but all accessories, gages, windows, locks and AC work perfectly. The convertible top is also perfect and functions as new. As you can see the underbody looks fresh and all the underhood plated parts and castings still look nearly new after 22 years. I take a lot of time to keep it detailed throughout and annual detail underhood, and underbody areas. This Cobra drives great; it sounds great and has no rattles or mechanical issues. The DOHC engine uses no oil and revs and runs smooth with no mechanical issues or noises. The Procharger P1-SC unit has had 3 oil changes since it was professionally installed. It is completely reliable, has a great idle sound with the helical cut gears and does not make noise or throw belts or any other issue. It acts like a factory, OEM installation. There are no fluid leaks and it truly is like showroom new in all respects. It gets a lot of attention and complements wherever I drive it. Before the Procharger and with the exhaust upgrades and a CAI, it made 290 rwhp on a Dynojet, after the procharger it made 425 rwhp with air/fuel in a very safe range and no detonation; stock 1996-1998 Cobras make about 255 rwhp. I have used 93 octane fuel exclusively since new. I put a completely new, 2.5" exhaust system on it mainly for the flow master and catless Hpipe sound. I also have a complete magnaflow stainless 2.5” catback and BBK catted xpipe in new condition that can be purchased separately if the new owner wants to have the ability to change sound and swap systems. Here are the list of the upgrades installed on the Cobra and included in the auction(All OEM take off parts are available to the new owner with the purchase) · Intercooled Procharger P1SC centrifugal supercharger with high flow fuel injectors and in tank, high flow/pressure pump, 9 psi boost and safely calibrated on a dyno to a safe 425 rwhp by Roush calibrator · Custom mass air for pressurized systems, professionally dyno tuned and calibrated by Roush tuner · Ford Racing shorty ceramic coated headers and brand new MAC HPIPE and Flow master 2 chamber American Thunder Axle back with MIL eliminators · Ford Racing 3.73 ring/pinion gear set and speedo gear installed by Mustang Development technician to factory specs · Adjustable clutch quadrant · Eibach Pro lowering springs and proper camber alignment · Ford Racing Aluminum driveshaft · MGW short throw shifter · Brand new Rovos Durban staggered 18x9 and 18x10 gunmetal wheels with Nitto NT555 245 and 285 tires (pair of 265 tires brand new included for front wheels) - $2100 · Original 1996 Cobra “5 hole” wheels, at 5000 miles were taken off and stored. Original BFG 245/40-17 tires with original air Additional items that can be purchased separately from the auction: · For separate purchase I have a set of 1995 Cobra R wheels, 17x9 and original BFG Comp TA 255/45-17 tires - These are not OEM, but are Ford Racing product sourced from original OEM manufacture, bought in 1999 and not pictured on Cobra. These wheels and tires were on the vehicle for about 6000 miles – I will sell this set for $1200. It is the hardest thing to do to part with an old friend but other priorities are taking over and it needs a new home where someone will continue to cherish it, show it, drive it on sunny days and keep it maintained and new for 22 more years.
