Vehicle Detail

RARE 1965 Rambler MarlinI discovered this car sitting in the backyard of an older neighborhood in my town. It was owned by a gentleman who passed away several years ago. His wife was selling his car collection. The Marlin had been sitting in a covered car port for over 25 years. It was running when it was parked. This is a COMPLETE original Marlin. There is nothing that has been changed or altered on this car. The only things that are missing the the hood ornament (reproductions are available) and one of the original steel wheels (2 if you count the spare). The engine is all original including the carb and all plumbing. It has the AMC 232 6-cylinder that is a bulletproof engine that was used by AMC/Jeep/Chrysler into the 1980's. There are many parts available for this engine. The Marlin came with factory disc brakes. It also has the column-shift automatic transmission. The Aqua interior is original. The interior carpet is barely there, there really are only remnants of it left, but it is the original deep pile that was factory original. The door and rear panels are in GREAT shape. The interior has the infamous Rambler seats that fold flat. Replacement upholstery is available through LeBaron Bonney. The headliner is original and still has the ribbing on it but it is foam on fiberglass so you can imagine how that is holding up. The original white paint is still on the car. I have buffed out a small area and surprisingly the paint shines up pretty good. The paint code says that this was an all white car but the window boomerang was painted aqua to match the interior. This was a common practice at the dealerships. The body has some minor damage at the rear right fender. There are a couple of other small dings and one scrape on the passenger side of the body but it is otherwise VERY straight. All of the brightwork is straight. The front and rear bumpers are straight, the rear bumper has small pits but the front bumper is VERY nice. The chrome rear window boomerangs have some pitting. The car has original spinner hubcaps that are rare. It also has the original Marlin hubcaps with the embossed "M" on them. This is a very good condition car. It is number 799 to roll off of the assembly line and one of only 2,005 with the 232 manufactured in 1965.The Marlin is not currently running as I have not had the time to try and start the engine. It does turn by hand though as it has been sealed since parked. The rear window was broken out, but I have a replacement. There is some surface rust under the hood and on the interior floorboards but I have not found any areas with rust-through. The car IS registered and the registration is current. I had to have it inspected and DMV issued a new title. I have a copy of the original title that shows the original license plate digits. If you are in California you can get the original black plates with the original numbers for this car. This Marlin was purchased from Larry Brink AMC in Mill Valley, California. It has been in California all it's life.I have a box of extra parts and also have an additional engine that is matching to production time of this Marlin, It may be the original engine as I cannot quite decipher the engine code of the one IN the car. It looks to me that both engines are accurate for the production date of this vehicle. AMC did not match the engine number to the car. I have another complete set of interior door and rear panels that are in perfect shape. I also have some other trim items such as additional rear view mirrors, Chrome for the doors and seats, door handles, locking gas caps, and a rear view mirror. It also comes with additional hubcaps for the spinners, a replacement wheel edge chrome for the ONE dented one, and a set of rare front and rear bumper guards. I also have an owners manual, options catalogue for 1965, and a repair and service manual. I also have the original keys that work perfectly. The tires will hold air for about a day. I have plenty of additional pictures, contact me if you would like to see them. Please enlarge the pictures and look at them closely so you can see the condition of the car. Pictures make it look GREAT. This car is in GOOD condition. I have buffed out some of the paint and I am surprised how shiny this 53 year old paint is, but I am not going to buff out the whole car. The new owner can do that!!!
