1968 Mercedes 280SL with a removable hard top and the very rare and desired 5 speed manual transmission. I bought this SL 5 years ago planning to finish it's restoration. It had a good amount of it's body work done and was freshly primed. It was running (very well I was told) and I did drive it into my garage the day it arrived. I had the body work finished, new floors and trunk floor installed, and had it painted silver gray. Some of the chrome has been replaced after the SL was painted, and the rest of the chrome that came with the car is included. The interior is dark blue leather but is in rough shape. The windshield has been removed for painting, but is in excellent condition. The original sales add listed air conditioning, but that was an error. The original radio with cassette player is included. The SL has been garaged since I received it. I have not run it since, nor have I started any of the interior work, due to a long difficult divorce. Regretfully I need to sell due to lack of both time any money... Additional pictures will soon follow.On May-20-18 at 21:48:16 PDT, seller added the following information: I added pictures from when I first received the SL showing it with the white primer coat. I also included pictures of the interior which as I said is in rough shape. No interior restoration has been started. Finally I included pictures of the listing from when I bought the SL five years ago. I was told that the manual transmission was the rare 5 speed, but as I said, I only drove the SL from the delivery trailer into my garage so I didn't get to shift through all of the gears to be sure. The SL has not been started or run since I parked it in the garage. After having the SL painted, I planned on moving on to whatever mechanical work might have needed to be done, and then finally on to the interior. Unfortunately I can't continue on as I had planned and therefore have decided to sell. The VIN is 113044 10-001604.
