Vehicle Detail
Up for Auction is my 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Classic. Those of you who know and love these cars know that this was the last year for this rear wheel drive body style. They also made a front wheel drive version for the 1988 model year, which is why they added "classic" onto the badge for the rear wheel drive version. This Cutlass Supreme Classic is a special hard to find car, so when I was looking around for one last year and found this one with super low original miles, I jumped at it. I am a car guy, so when I saw this one I had to have it. I have this and a few others that I will be selling because my work has now become so busy I just don't have time to enjoy them. What makes this car special is the options it has, and its history. You don't often find a Cutlass Supreme with rally gauge package, sport steering wheel, console shift and bucket seats and F41 sport suspension with 3.08 rear axle ratio all together. Usually these options were reserved for the Cutlass Salon, or the Cutlass 442. Interesting story; This car from the factory came with option RPO code N78, which were the rare Aluminum Alloy Honeycomb wheels that were only available on 1986-1988 rear wheel drive cutlasses. The older couple who were the original owners of the car did not like them and preferred the look of the Olds wire wheel disc covers and steel wheels. These wheels were smaller and used smaller tires. So of course, the dealer being a dealer actually upcharged them $775.00 for what should have been a credit. Im sure they sold the Aluminum wheels to another customer at a hefty profit as well. The Cutlass now has OEM new old stock Super Stock Chrome Rally Wheels mounted on it with brand new Uniroyal Tiger Paw White Wall Tires that probably have 30 miles on them. I was able to find the rally wheels at an olds specialty shop in CT. They got the wheels from an Olds dealer that went out of business. I still have the boxes they came in. There are 5 Chrome Rally wheels. The 4 that are on the car, and a spare. I also still have the smaller steel rims and tires and wire wheel discs. All with come with the car. The first owner was afraid of rear wheel drive in the winter so she stored it and only put about 5,300 miles on it in 18 years or so. The second owner purchased the car and drove it sparingly for 11 years adding another 12,000 miles or so to get it to where it is now. She also stored it, not wanting to add excessive miles and wear and tear. I bought the car from family of the second owner. They had the air conditioning completely redone prior to me acquiring the car. I have a copy of the title they sent me, which indicates the mileage at 5, 307 when they bought it from the first owners estate in January 2006. There is a little oil seepage that I have noticed on my storage garage floor, I assume there may be a gasket or two that needs replacing from the car sitting so long. Other than that it runs perfectly. It goes down the road perfectly. It is nice and tight. The interior upholstery and trim look like new. I have more pictures if there is anything in particular you would like to see, let me know. Please feel free to message me with any questions. Let me know if you would like to discuss a buy it now price or if you would like to make an offer. If you have little or no ebay feedback please contact me so we can have conversation about the purchase, otherwise I reserve the right to cancel your bid. The car is sold as is, no warranties. I will make every effort to help accommodate your shipper if that the method you use to get the vehicle to your location. Thank You and good luck. Andy
