Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVE Auction for a legendary Lincoln Mark VIII. These cars have amassed a dedicated following as they quickly become the automotive equivalent of a cult-classic. So you know what these are if you're looking at this auction. But just in case you're stumbling across one for the first time, I don't blame you- lately it's become a bargain to own one of these highly versatile and modifiable, classic luxury hotrods. In so many ways, from performance, to design, and technology, the Mark VIII's ahead of its time. The wraparound cockpit is iconic, and the Osram Sylvania Xenon headlamps, a first in North America, are artwork for '97. It's engine is the desirable 280 hp Teksid all-aluminum 32 valve INTECH V8 good for 0-60 in 6.5 sec. basically stock, while achieving 28 MPG hwy. When maintained they're bulletproof. I've owned at least 10 Mark VIIIs of all model years over the past 2 decades, and this one specifically since 2013, when I bought it with around 120k mi.This model year is one of the best cars FoMoCo ever made- the 1997 was rated best of the Marks by CR. This one was my workhorse until I found the silver LSC you can see in the pics. It drives me nuts to sell this car but my wife says we need space since I've added more vehicles. There have been absolutely zero problems with this car, meaning no breakdowns or major components crapping out at all. Maintenance has been key- regular fluids for engine and trans, lube, friction items, spark plug well seals, and an air spring; that's it. The interior is nearly perfect and everything works aside from the heated seats. A/C is cold and the heat is hot- granted, the servo is broken; but the switch is easily flipped under the dash. Runs and drives beautifully- nothing ever breaks, just maintain it. Glass is all good, and from the photos it looks very clean, but please know the paint is faded on the roof and deck lid, and there some dents, dings, scratches, and rock chips typical for a car of its age and mileage, but NO RUST. A tint job plus vinyl wrap or plastidip and it would look like a new car. Mechanically, it's been very well maintained, receiving oil changes every 3-4k as advised by my oil analysis lab (Blackstone). Oil was just changed less than 20 mi. ago. in addition to a gallon of Mercon V trans fluid replaced- I do this roughly every third oil change in between pan drops for trans filter changes. An alignment was performed within the last 10k mi.- drives straight as an arrow. Recent alternator, battery, tensioner pulley, and serpentine belt, Autolite 103 plugs, coils, and boots, valve cover gaskets, frt/rr brake pads/rotors, rear calipers. PO rebuilt the full front end suspension so the ball-joints and bushings are all still good. The air suspension works as it should. I just replaced a leaky driver side front bag that would sag overnight with a known good used part and it sits up fine now. Air ride is cheap and easy to fix these days, so coil spring conversions that ruin the spirit and ride of these cars make little sense. This car could easily go another 100k at very low cost. This is a Florida titled U.S. model currently residing in Mississauga, ON- wife and kids are Canucks. I'm happy to deliver it to Niagara Falls or Buffalo for the buyer as I occasionally pick up mail there anyway. If you're just tire kicking and need to inspect the car, please come here 1st- less than an hour to west Mississauga. Six months ago I posted it at $2900 on Kijiji and got a zillion responses, but the export/import to Canada was too much a PITA already living here, with the 72 hr waiting period and all. Clean FL title in hand. This car is NOT listed locally and will be sold to the highest bidder on ebay. Video: 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII Virtual Test Drive - YouTube Video will open in a new window [isdntekvideo] This is a relisting of the NO RESERVE auction for item #282870560900 which I cancelled within hours of posting because I accidentally entered the wrong VIN, from my Silver LSC. No other pictures or details in the description above have changed. I've tried to honestly describe and show everything important about this car to a fanatical degree. I want to assure you can bid with confidence, knowing you will get what's described. Please, keep in mind this is a used car that comes with no warranty. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car to Florida tomorrow. On Mar-07-18 at 08:02:50 PST, seller added the following information: Just a note on bidders with zero feedback and international bidders- While I didn't prohibit anyone with zero feedback from bidding, as most do, I need to be sure you're serious about purchasing, as my wife seriously wants to free up space. There's also a very specific, yet straightforward process to exporting the car from the U.S. You must obtain an AES ITN for export (available from these guys for ~30 bucks- simplifiedtradesolutions.com before notifying BUFFALOVINNYOFFICE@cbp.dhs.gov to start the 72 business hr waiting period before presenting to the Lewiston U.S. Customs for export. That means it has to be in the States for that time. A border agent literally told me to park it at a Wal-Mart- lol! Maybe a Casino parking garage or Buffalo buddy's place would be better- anyway, I will deliver over the border. Beyond that, the Canadian import is actually the easiest part of the equation- NO RIV required! They just want a little money (GST or HST + A/C fee) and a gazillion copies of the title and bill of sale. Please keep these points in mind as you bid. Again, thanks for your interest!
