Vehicle Detail
1959 Nash Metropolitan 2 dr coupe. Selling because I don't have time to tinker. I've owned it for about 4 1/2 years now and have only driven it about 50 miles and that was in the first 2 weeks after purchase. It's been sitting in my garage ever since, started up occassionally. Fair overall condition, starts and runs. Brakes are are very tight, as is the case with any Met that sits for an extended period. NOT roadworthy until the brakes are serviced and adjusted, at a minimum. It can be driven onto a trailer. All of these items are working: All lights in and out, horn, turn signals, windshield wipers (very slowly) and the radio (picks up 2 stations). Was a midwest car, has rust, but is not a basket case. Worst of it looks to have been on floor pan. Some amatuer patchwork has been done in the past on both driver and passenger sides. Not so pretty, but feels solid enough. The area around the parking / emergency brake attachment point is the only area that is in need of prompt attention. Otherwise, some of the other areas where Mets usually suffer from rust look OK on this car. Jack points, door hinges on both sides and leaf spring attachment shackle areas all appear OK. It's been repainted (maybe just once) and there are a few spots where I'm certain there's a little bondo. Again, not a basket case at all. Interior is quite tatty, and older amateur restoration, probably from the late 70s or early 80s. It's presentable enough. Although I haven't driven it in a few years, I do recall it occassionally slipped out of 3rd gear into Neutral under acceleration (but not when cruising). I have a lot more pictures available and I'm sure I've forgotten to mention something in the description. Message me with questions. I'm willing to hold the car for 30 days after payment is received in full. Pickup and/or shipping arrangments/expense are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Thanks for looking.
