Vehicle Detail
1968 Chevrolet Impala "Possibly a Super Sport" Convertible This is a prime opportunity to own a classic full size luxury muscle car convertible without giving up and arm and a leg. This is also a tremendous value if you need very hard to find parts for finishing a project that you may already have started. There are many bins filled with spare and extra parts. Many parts that are not remanufactured by aftermarket suppliers. The original factory red seat belts are included along with a complete brand new set of red seat belts. All the parts pictured will be included with this sale. If you simply double click on the main picture of the auction page then all 24 pictures will be able to be viewed in the larger size by clicking the arrows on each side of the larger pictures. I will explain everything I found out from the previous owner at the point of purchase. I made this purchase from a gentleman who bought the car from the owner of a body shop that started the restoration, but as many times happen with these projects they get pushed off in a corner. An elderly woman believed to be the original owner wanted to have this convertible completely restored. She dropped it off back in the 1980's. This is believed to be an original red body with a red interior and a white top. The top no longer exists, but the top frame was restored and the bow is in very good condition. I don't know these full size Chevy's all that well. I'm sure there are some Chevy enthusiasts out there that can verify this car to be the highly desirable red on red color combination by the data plate shown. The prior owner that made the purchase from the body shop after the elderly woman passed did all the really hard work on this classic back in the 1990's and through the 2000's. This car was always either in the body shop or garage kept. That gentleman replaced the trunk and all the floor pans. Everywhere I looked the frame appeared in very nice condition. The entire interior was also reupholstered. The marks on the back seat were just some indentations from where the bins full of parts were stored, so those marks should come right out after the sunlight hits the interior for a few days. This Impala has the factory Comfortron Climate Control air conditioning option. That was very rare in a 1968 convertible. Those parts to make the a/c functional again are also included in the additional included parts. The 327 engine is believed to be original and was completely rebuilt back in the late 1990's, so this engine has been barely broken in with less than 500 miles on it. The brakes have all been replaced along with new brake lines, and mostly all of the front end suspension has also been replaced. Including the ball joints, stabilizer links, and front sway bar. This engine starts right up and runs great. I took it around the block and the turbo 350 transmission runs and shifts smoothly through all the gears. The body appears in really nice condition, and the crucial side line that runs from the front to the back of this body looks to be virtually laser straight. In my opinion it really won't take much to get this classic convertible ready for a nice bright shiny red paint job. I can't see any Chevy full body fanatics being disappointed with a project that has already been taken up to this level. This Chevy does not come with a title, but is free and clear of any liens. The winning bidder will receive a Bill of Sale in their name. I know it is relatively easy to obtain a title in many states like Indiana and Georgia. Some states don't even require a title on classic cars over 25 years old anymore. Please do the research in your state prior to placing your bids. I have heard of an easy way to obtain a clean and clear title in the new owners name through the Broadway Title Co. in Bangor, ME. That can all be done online with a little research. Obtaining a title will be left up to the winning bidder. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide currently has the 1968 Chevrolet Impala Convertible with the 327/350 horsepower engine with factory air conditioning listed at $45,625 in high condition, which they consider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. Nada has the average condition listed at $21,500, which they consider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a 20-Footer! Nada has the lowest condition value at $10,187 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car, but would be considered as the price for a car needing a complete restoration. I believe whatever this classic convertible sells for in this "No Reserve" auction is a win/win proposition. The Nada numbers don't lie! Mostly all of the critical restoration work has been done. This Classic Convertible is a very valuable automobile if the proper restoration is completed! Whatever this classic convertible sells for in this quick "No Reserve" 5-day auction is a win/win investment. This Impala Convertible is an investment that I believe will continue to rise as these convertible's have consistently shown to escalate in value with each quarter. This droptop would be a great project for the father and son that has some spare time on their hands, and wants to bond as a family unit with a nice well worth it project, or for the high end muscle car restoration shop that does these cars to show car quality status. Here is a prime opportunity to acquire your dream car at a nominal price. I tried to list everything pertinent when I wrote this description, so every potential bidder can make the most informed decision prior to placing their bid. If you feel I may have left anything out please ask as many questions as you like. What you see is exactly what you get! This Cool Classic late 60's Impala Droptop is being offered at "No Reserve" on a quick 5-day auction ending Sunday evening at 8:00pm Eastern time, 7:00pm Central time, and 5:00pm Pacific time. The PayPal deposit is to be paid within 24 hours, and the balance wire transferred within 72 hours. Bottom line is this cool All American Classic could be dropped off at your local Maaco for a quick restoration to have plenty of time to join in at the local car shows in your area for the upcoming summer. Thank You for taking the time to view my auction! Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!
