Vehicle Detail
1968 Camaro RS/SS 4 Speed Manual Transmission 12 Bolt Rear Differential Power Steering and Power Disc Brakes Offered for sale is an awesome candidate for restoration. It's currently running and driving, is basically complete, and though not perfect, it's a great start to an amazing car. This 1968 Camaro RS/SS started out as a Butternut Yellow coupe with Black Houndstooth interior and a black vinyl top, built the first week of October at the Norwood, Ohio plant. Sadly, in 1968, Camaros were not designated RS or SS on their trim tags. 1967 Camaros were...and I have a real RS/SS coupe to compare it against. My 1967 Trim Tag lists everything...1968 doesn't (trim tag photo included). It's a shame GM didn't continue what they started the year before, and who knows why they stopped? Virtually every part can be transferred over. Virtually every part can be put on a car to make a clone. You're going to have to go with your gut and look at everything to see for yourself. I can't prove this is a real RS/SS, just like you can't prove it isn't. Also, no build sheet. Engine numbers from the right front pad were removed when the block was decked. I have not looked at the casting numbers on the block. The body panels...doors, fenders, quarter panels... all appear to be original, including the SS hood (which is still butternut yellow on the edges and the trunk is still yellow underneath). The RS headlight doors and mechanisms and wiring appear to be all original. The back up lights in the rear valance all appear to be original, including the wiring and grommets. The trunk floor, though smeared with some sort of "coating", appears to be original. Generally speaking, the car is complete. It needs paint and body work, it needs an interior, it needs exhaust and pretty much every system gone through, but the engine sounds good, the transmission shifts good, and the rear end is quiet. Seat frames and dashboard are good. Dash is complete, minus radio. Steering is nice, and the brakes do not pull, but the vacuum line for the power assist isn't connected. It needs a fitting. It wasn't reconnected when the new Edelbrock carburetor went on. It starts easily and idles well. It comes with the console you see in the photos, but I don't believe it to be original and it's not mounted to the floor. Speaking of the floor...it's solid. Every body panel you see can be used again. The trunk floor is probably the worst. If you could strip that coating off of it, it might be usable too. I can only put up 24 photos. I only put up 22 so I can add a picture of the entire car. It started to get dark and I forgot to take a front and full side picture I will add those. That might not be enough for a buyer to look at to make a good decision. I understand...so just ask for what you specifically want, and I'll make every effort to satisfy your request. It's MUCH easier to take pictures with my phone and text them to your phone or email them to your email address. Please text me at 941-740-2277, email me through eBay or directly at northshorebill@aol.com. Of course...personal inspections are welcomed and encouraged. There's nothing to hide, and I don't want the new owner to have any surprises. The car is located at my warehouse in Port Charlotte, Florida 33953. It's about 90 miles south of Tampa and about 7 miles off of I-75. Easy for trucks and trailers to get to me, and I can store the car for as long as you need...within reason. I'm here to help, but don't like my time wasted. If you're a serious buyer, I'm a serious seller. Car is being listed to be sold. Good luck and Happy Bidding On Jan-24-18 at 06:12:57 PST, seller added the following information: Just like the rear...the front valance and lights/wiring all appear to be original. Also, the hood latch is where it is supposed to be for an RS, below the bumper on the right side. It looks to be original as well.
