Vehicle Detail
1937 Dodge FASTBACK Sedan D-5 - Barn Fresh Original and RARE **RARE** 1937 FASTBACK Dodge D-5 Sedan In nearly original condition ONLY 7,555 MADE!!! - SEE MANY LARGE PHOTOS BELOW! Very neat find! Here is fine candidate for easy restore or unique HOT-ROD, A lot of people like these old fastback or “Slantback” beauties.-----------------------------------FROM THE DODGE STORYFollowing the lines of the two-door sedan, the four-door sedan had rakish fastback styling at the rear. Note how the beltline sweeps gracefully downward. A total of 7,555 four-door sedans of this type were built, selling for $820 and weighing 2,982 pounds. The series D5 claimed to deliver from 18 to 24 miles per gallon. Compare this to the “humpback” sedan which sold 185,483. Makes this “FASTBACK” third most rare after the rumble seat coupe and convertible coupe!!! You wont see another for a LONG TIME!!!----------------------------------The best I can figure the recent history of this vehicle was that somewhere in the 90’s it was painted back to it’s original factory green. After that it sat in a shed covered for years… Interior had some animal damage and general rot of the seats, headliner and carpet. I pulled everything out and vacuumed just so you could get a better look at any potential problems. Looks to be rust free (other than surface rust on the underside. Floorboards all in great shape. Running boards are loosing their rubber. Underside looks all original! Items that are included but are not in photos include glass and window garnish (was pulled and painted but never installed). Glove box door, ash tray, crank hole cover and some other small misc... Engine turns over by hand, but was not started...will need some love to bring back to the road! Worth every penny to keep a classic like this alive!NOTE: Show with decades of shed dust, Underneath the paint is shiny and decent for a driver or restore! (Shown below is a before and after of a similar car that was pulled from the same shed, painted by the same “Deans Auto Body” about the same time.) VIN# 4544001 Similar vehicles out of the same shed in same condition came alive with just a simple cleaning of the fuel system and a fresh battery. I have no doubt this will follow suit. Deposit of $200 is due within 24 hours of auction end and full payment within 7. Buyer is responsible for shipping from 84664. Pickup can be arranged with your transport company.
