Vehicle Detail
I have my 1986 Ford Mustang lx 5.0 convertible for sale, let me start off by saying that If you want a perfect car this is far from it. it has its fair share of dings and scratches but still has some shine to it. I haven't had the car for very long as I just found a car ive been wanting for a long time and this one has to go unfortunately. The car has a clean title, open and signed off ready to go. It is also placed on non-operational in California so there is no back fees owed to the dmv. The engine runs pretty good considering its age. Although a good tune up wouldn't hurt. The transmission shifts kind of hard the little bit I have driven it, but seemed to get up to speed pretty good. The speedometer doesn't work but I had my gps and I got it up to around 45mph, so anything past that I couldn't tell you. All the other gauges seem to work just fine. I replaced the rack and pinion with a remanufactured unit with all new lines and hoses. I replaced the turn signal switch, and put a new battery in it as well. The car has a brand new fuel pump in it and fuel filter as well, fires right up. I would suggest doing and oil change and maybe a coolant flush but other than that its a solid runner. The brakes are a little stiff and make a little bit of noise, the pads look good but the rotors will need replaced. The power windows need some work as only the driver side front window goes down all the others need to be addressed, also the power locks don't seem to work. Still can lock it manually though. The top is pretty recent and looks to be in good shape, it has a glass back window as well. I have a tan top cover for it when the top goes down that will be included in the sale. The interior is in pretty good shape, except the seats. They have new seat covers on them now because the covers have some rips due to the California sun, the rear seat also has a few small ones. The seat belts will need replaced as the driver side one gets stuck and is the wrong color and both of them do not retract. The carpet is pretty decent considering its the original carpet. The door panels aren't too bad, but have a few imperfections in them. The dash pad is in pretty decent shape other than 1 crack and 1 speaker grill, that's why it has the cover on it. The car will also need a radio if you want some tunes. It has the radio base but the face was removed before I bought the car. The body is in pretty good shape but I will be honest and tell you that it is not perfect nor is it a show car. But it is a rust free California car and the bottoms of the doors are in amazing shape as well as the shock towers and the floor pans. The front fender has some missing paint from battery acid and the driver side quarter panel has some missing paint from it being water based and over time it just chipped away. The car is original paint. the front bumper light is cracked on the passenger side from the previous owner running into something and it made a little crease in the fender but nothing too noticeable. The front and rear bumper trim have been repainted as well as the moldings around the top and windows. At the end of the day If you are looking for a good little project car that you can tinker on this is the car for you. Its not perfect but you can build it the way you want to or drive it as is with a little bit of basic maintenance. The cool part about this car is that it is an lx and not a gt so you don't see them as often. About the only modifications this car has is that it has a set of flow master mufflers and what looks like a catted h pipe. If you have any other questions about the car or want any more pictures please let me know, I have tried to be as descriptive as I can with the car so you wont be surprised. There will be a non refundable deposit of $200.00 at the end of the auction to the winning bidder within 48 hours of the auction ending. The car is forsale locally as well so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Good luck and happy bidding!
