Vehicle Detail
I originally bought this Hudson that was in storage, (a barn find if you will) for the better part of 30 years. I had an enormous amount of work done to it to try and make it a safe and reliable car. The fuel system is rebuilt from the gas tank which was removed, sandblasted, repaired, special rubber coating, sending unit is brand new so the gas guage on the dash board is accurate, all the way through to the rebuilt carburetor. The braking system is brand new, shoes, drums, lines, cylinders, including every peice of hardware that makes up the braking system. This Hudson has in the front only, brand new wiring. Headlights, turn signals, battery wiring, ignition wiring, all wiring from the push button start to the starter motor. The wiring in the back is perfectly fine. Every single light bulb from the license plate light bulb to the hood crest on the front of the hood in the car has been replaced with the correct 6 volt bulbs. The battery is brand new and is an 8 volt battery. I did not change over to a 12 volt system as I absolutely wanted the car to be a original as could be and the car runs perfectly on the 6 volt system. The tires are steel belted radials and are the correct size for the car and has 100 miles on them. The spare tire is brand new.The vacuum fuel pump is brand new and works perfectly. The clutch and all related parts have been replaced and is all brand new. The two things that I currently see wrong with the car is right now it will not start, although the cranking is strong and fast. The car has brand new caps, points, rotors, plugs, wires, fuel pump and there is a little over 1/4 tank of gas, I can't see the no start condition being very serious at all.The second problem is when the clutch gets overheated, the transmision will not go into any gear whatsoever until the clutch has cooled sufficiently. Once the clutch cools, it will shift just fine once again. The mechanic says it's a simple clutch adjustment being it is new.I have reached the end of the line financially for me for this car, and I am seriously hoping that it will go to a caring new owner that will keep the car as original as can be. I suppose we all have to draw the line somewhere . The next owner of the Commodore will not have to do much more work at all as much of the hard stuff has been done already. As mentioned above It has a no start condition and a clutch that gets too hot . No reasonable offer will be turned down, but if at all possible the best thing to do is to come and see the car in person to appreciate all that is done. The car is in really fine condition, it has been repainted so I was told in the 1970s and has held up miraculously well. The car is a solid car and very good bones. Floor pans are in very good condition, as with the trunk pits. I have more pictures if anyone needs but am limited to the 12 provided by ebayThe car will be listed locally so I can and will remove the car from ebay if someone comes along with the right price. A reserve has been set to protect the value of the car. This car will be sold as is with no warranties, or guarantees expressed or implied. Look carefully at the pictures. I require a $500.00 deposit within 3 days of winning bid good luck
