Howdy, eBayers! Do you need a summer project? Are you a student in need of your first car, but don’t want to buy something too nice that might get dinged in the parking lot? Do you need something honest to get you around town? If so, my 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe—affectionately nicknamed “The Golden Goose”—will hopefully hit the spot. She’s got 109k miles showing on the odo, with a clean engine oil analysis at just over 100k. She carries a clean Texas title; she’s had only three owners (including me) from new and no bodywork performed or needed on my watch. Recently passed inspection and has valid Texas registration through April 2018. Many dollars in maintenance were spent within the past year—including a new battery and starter in September 2016, new rear brakes and rear diff re-sealing in October 2016, and a new fuel pump in November 2016. She runs and drives fine, but there are a few things needing doing—namely a new a/c compressor (old one leaks and won’t hold a charge), front tie rods, possibly front brakes, and possibly the fuel injector spider. It’s throwing a P1345 code that’s setting the SES light, as well as leaking some power steering fluid (box changed in May 2014). A few cosmetic maladies, including faded paint on the hood and roof as well as a cracked passenger mirror (argh), round out the list of grievances. As I’ve hopefully intoned above, she’s not perfect, but she’s a good starting point to make something truly great.
