1978 Volkswagen Westfalia Champagne Edition This vehicle is a 1978 Automatic Volkswagen Westfalia Champagne Edition that was delivered new in San Francisco February, 14th 1978. It spent its whole life there until I had it shipped to Michigan about 8 years ago. The body is very solid as you would expect from a Californa vehicle. The 2.0L Fuel injected engine was completely rebuilt and has less than 2000 miles on the rebuild. The odometer reads approximately 82,000 miles. It also has Koni shocks and a brand new Optima battery. It has newer Hankook tires and bike rack as well. The vehicle has an amazing interior, I believe the front seats have been redone, but it retains the original rear interior. The cabinets too are in great shape. The vehicle comes with all the tables, screens and child cot. The canvas has also been replaced and is in great shape. The vehicle has been used very little in the past five years and I have decided to pass it on to someone who will get more use out of it. The paint, while presentable could definitely use some freshening up; Especially on the very top of the camper. The sliding door can be a bit sticky as well. The parking brake cable is disconnected and the original brown window cranks have finally dried up and will need to be replaced. There is also a small rock chip in the windshield that has been repaired. This is a great running, virtually rust free Westfalia that with a new paint job could bring it to a new level. For whatever reason it has a rebuilt title. I could only find one bit of repair evidence on the rear driver’s corner, and an old repair on the front under the spare.
