NATIONWIDE SHIPPING AVAILABLE FOR $500 OR LESS. $200 TO ANYWHERE IN CA, AZ, OR NV $300 TO OREGON, WASHING OR COLORADO $500 OR LESS TO ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE CONTINENTAL U.S. This is an original 1-owner 1978 Honda CB550K w a little over 8200 miles. It's a Wisconsin bike, the owner rode it every summer until it developed an issue with the fuse panel around the mid 80's. He bought a new bike that year, parked this one and never rode it again. All the paint is original, in very nice shape but there are flaws (see photos). The chrome cleaned up really nice.I've restored hundreds of old Honda's in the last 10 years (not an exaggeration- somewhere between 4-500), you can see my work on Instagram.com/MetricClassics. This is not a hobbyist restoration project- it is a professionally restored vintage motorcycle. I suppose you could theoretically say I am the second "owner" per se, but I would still classify this as a one-owner bike. I spent roughly 60 hours on it (lost count honestly). Here is a brief summary of what took place: New handlebars (the owner had put on these 80's buckhorn chopper looking things)New gripsNew ignition switchNew turn signal lenses and tail light lensNew chrome rear suspensionNew IRC GS-11 vintage style tires and tubesNew clutch and brake leversNew throttle, clutch and choke cablesNew WPS batteryNew 530 heavy duty roller drive chainNew petcock, new fuel lines and fuel filterNew NGK spark plugs, NGK plug boots, Maxum 20w-50 oil and oil filter The front forks were taken apart, thoroughly cleaned out, I replaced the fork seals and added new fork oil I took all the wiring connections apart and cleaned all of them out to reduce resistance to the charging system I took the carburetors apart and put them through an ultra-sonic machine. Took all the jets and cleaned and inspected them by hand to make certain all passageways were cleared. I then took the carburetor bodies themselves and cleaned them out by hand, set all the float levels to factory spec and reassembled the set with new float bowl gaskets.Fuse panel was taken apart and inspected. The original issue that sidelined the bike turned out to be that the connection to the main fuse holder had broken, causing intermittent contact which made it so hot it started melting the plastic fuse housing itself, so I removed, re-soldered and reinstalled the main fuse holderGave the ignition system a complete tune up consisting of cleaning and oiling the timing advance unit, sanding off the corrosion / servicing the ignition points, tuning the ignition timing itself back to factory spec. (they go out of tune just like strings on a guitar, hence the term); the cam chain was loose, so that was readjusted, and the valve clearances were all set back to .002 & .003mm as the book requires Disassembled the front brake system and rebuilt the caliper by sanding out the entire inner piston surface, polished the brake piston, replaced the caliper seal, rebuilt the master cylinder, filled it w new dot3 fluid, bled out all the air bubbles and properly aligned the pads. Removed the engine covers and buffed them the best I could to mimic the factory fresh finish Took apart the rear wheel hub polished the brake backing plate; sanded out the rotor and realigned / adjusted the rear brake The exhaust is the original from 1978 and it does have some corrosion (see photos) Also! Pictures were taken with the seat lock removed, currently have it off having a new key made for it, owner lost the original. It will be reinstalled and the key is of course included. Any questions, feel free to ask! I know everything about this bike through and through.
