Vehicle Detail

This is a really good project car for someone with the right skill set. 1975 Porsche 914 2.0 Liter, Scarlet Red (all be it faded) Car History that I know: I purchased the car in 2013 from an individual who had had it for two years. Car rockers are very stiff, you can jump on the rocker with the doors open and it is rock solid. Doors fit very nicely into the car body All body components on the car are sheet metal with some limited rust, see pictures. I ran over the body with a magnet before I purchased it to be sure it was metal. I and a group of crazy bastards trailer it home in January of 2013 and it went into the garage you see it in in the pictures today. Again is has been garaged for the last three + years. My time with it: I drained the all gas reconditioned the fuel tank put it back in the car, did an oil change, new plugs and fuel filter. I removed the smog control equipment as I was looking to get more room in the engine compartment to work without having to drop the motor and I live in Kansas. Screw pollution I wanted to go fast and I am liking the warm winter here now. All the smog did was reduce hp, so Cali groups interest, fyi. The car at that time had an issue with not allow the ignition switch to run the fuel pump. It would sporadically work, so I remove the fuel pump, ran cleaner through it and of course the pump works perfectly. Btw, fuel pump in this model was moved to the front out of the engine bay to avoid boiling the gas, a problem with earlier models. I cleaned all engine grounds, tested the relay board for continuity and all is good. Replaced all fuses. In the end I had to jumper around the relay board fuel pump relay and the car would start right up. It would run and idle rough and as it warmed up it would become to rich and basically flood out. Wait awhile come back and it would fire off again. Somebody who has some basic mechanic skills can make her run and keep running I suspect well. I then decided to remove the injectors and performed a self cleaning on them. That is where my saga with the car must stop. I have everything that came with the car originally with the exception of the smog control piping from the engine compartment mentioned earlier. Cool Car Features: It is the hybrid car, half Porsche, half VW, and I dig that. Po-Vo parts are cheaper for working on it than the true upitty porsche parts! Btw, porsche ended this relationship because the 914 was kicking the 911's back side on the track. Mid engine location. These cars with a lot hp are fast and corner on rails because of engine placement. This is a great candidate for a 6 cylinder engine retro fit. Very fast! (Again mechanical talent required I do not possess) Removable targa top that stores in the rear trunk and is in great shape. Pop up head lights - fully functional Original Fuchs wheels in very good shape - polishing would make them sing. (These things seem to bring a pretty penny on ebay for a set of 4) Interior is original and exceptional for a car of this age and original. I have three manuals that I will include with the price. Must dos: The car needs rear floor pans only, common for these cars. If you can weld they are cheap at various sites. (Here is that talent and tool problem again) :) The hell hole has some rust but is really pretty good with some rust removal, there is enough metal left to make it work, surface rust only Car could use a good paint job - Original color Scarlet Red is faded. I am done with the car as time and talent are both fleeting and three years is enough to have made it way better. I need it gone as you can see I have kid sailboats and other stuff to fill my life and garages. Wife's are more important than old sports cars as well! :) I will be listing the car locally on Craigslist as well because I need it gone quickly to keep those who matter most in my life happy, so this auction may end before the bid time expires if the car reaches my buy it now price locally. Good luck, happy bidding and I hope it goes to someone with the talent to support the cars potential. P.S. I have a Kansas title for the car. Never run a car fax but your welcome to if it helps. The car has never run at length since I purchased it. I would be happy to share more pictures if there is something you would like to see in particular. Shipping will be the responsibility of the purchasers. $500 dollar deposit due within 24 hours of the auction close with the remainder due before pickup.
