This is my 2001, 4x4 Ford Explorer Sport SUV with 134,000 miles. This has the nice 4.0, 6 cylinder engine. The car always starts and has never let me down. The shift on the fly 4 wheel drive works great. This is used and not in perfect condition, but there is nothing that keeps it from being driven. I am just in need of something more like a pickup truck. The rocker panels are rusty, above the wheels too and some other areas as well. The cam chain guide /tensioner in front is bad so the engine makes a ticking /rattling sound, but it has been this way for over a year now and has never caused any problems. I thought about replacing it but now I dont want to bother. This was the top of the line model with all the options- leather interior, power sun roof, premium sound system with 6CD in dash changer, etc etc. Also, the air conditioner blows cold. I have replaced many parts over the coarse of me owning this vehicle. There is one crack at the very bottom of the windshield, scratches and scrapes /dings and dents from normal use- so if you are going to come out with a microscope and tell me about all the issues I just mentioned- this is not the car for you. If you are looking for decent transportation and are a serious buyer- this will work just fine.
