Vehicle Detail
For Sale is my 1967 Ford F-100. I bought this vehicle three years ago to use alongside my 1964 Comet. My high school student drove both to school and we participated in car shows featuring the Comet using the F-100 to haul any accessories and as part of our showcase. My best assessment of this truck is as a solid base for someone wanting a driver to work on. This vehicle was originally titled in Arizona to Nevada to Texas. I bought the vehicle in Las Vegas where i drove it home to Texas. I believe the vehicle was used as a ranch truck based on its wear and underside. The exterior of the vehicle was cleaned and painted as you see, the underside left untreated. There are some minor spots of surface rust on the exterior. I treated and repaired rust on one of the door jams and drivers floor pan. I used a rust converter and all-metal to complete the repair. The underside of the vehicle is covered in surface rust which could be easily cleaned. The existing exterior paint is not of high quality and can be termed as a "10 footer". The truck does look good however and attracts a lot of attention. The good: Upon getting the vehicle home I made sure to set it up to be safe for a teenager to drive to school. New brake shoes on the front, new tires, new front coil springs, new shocks all the way around. New column shifter and dashboard and a new bed liner. I had the seat recovered and installed seat belts. I also installed a new headliner which i intend to rip out as my teenager managed to "punch" a hole in it. The bad: The drive-line appears to be original. I have no idea of the mileage. The engine needs a valve job as it has burnt exhaust valves. I took it to my local mechanic (who worked on my Comet) he told me just to drive it until i got tired of the sputtering as it wasn't hurting the motor. The rear engine seal is also gone. This vehicle looses oil, it does not burn it. Lastly the rear pinon has a very slight leak. In the three years a have owned it i have not needed to add any oil to the rear end. Summary: This truck is a trip to drive. Three on tree no power steering or brakes its a workout. My teenager is a much better driver than most due to his time in this vehicle. I live in the DFW metro-plex and have used this vehicle to drive to client sites ranging from 100 to 400 miles in distance. This vehicle rides smooth on the Hwy while getting 13 mpg. It has a 9 inch rear end which could easily be changed out to gear for better mileage. It averages loosing a quart of oil every 300 miles on the hwy, not nearly as much driving in the city. Should you be looking for a driver / project with lots of potential, this could be your answer.
