Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 2007 BMW R1200S is a rather rare and unusual bike. VIN WB10396027ZP20224. 28,713 miles. I went all the way to Wisconsin to get it four years ago. Very light, huge brakes, 122 horsepower pushing (said to be) around 470 pounds. Very quick and maneuverable in city driving which is why I like it. Only made for a couple of years and wasn’t very popular among the usual BMW riders. But it’s VERY quick, on the order of a superbike. ABS. Heated grips. Front brake lever also controls back brakes. Never crashed or dropped at speed. Mine has the Ohlin shock package and the tires are less than a year on them and appear to have all their tread. Stock mufflers replaced by individual “Lazer” glass pack mufflers and the exhaust note is great. Corbin seat. Aftermarket bag on the back. Rizoma handlebars are quite comfortable. Aftermarket windscreen extender. I purchased (expensive) aftermarket foot peg devices that dropped the pegs about two inches, making it much more comfortable for tall riders. Mounted bracket for iPhone (maps and Waze) The Rizoma handlebar tends to bang on the (plastic) tank on riders right when fully locked to the right. Small chip in the paint (red arrow). A while back I had a knee brace on from an orthopedic injury that rubbed the paint on rider’s lower left tank. I crudely repainted it from a spray can, hardly noticeable. About a year ago the bike slipped off its kickstand on a road surface I should have been more wary of and fell to riders right from standing still. Immediately uprighted. Few scratches on the inferior side of the engine head not noticeable. No substantive damage. The friction type "cruise control" on the right grip isn't functional. Another note: This particular model's cam and lifters are apparently different from other BMW boxer engines because it's (factory) hopped up some. So on beginning acceleration, between idle speed and about 2000 rpm, there is what I would describe as a "rattle" in the upper cam lifter gear. Noticeable but not obnoxious. Disappears after 2000 rpm. I originally asked the BMW service manager about this. He rode the bike and said it was within limits for this engine and would never cause any problem. That was four years ago, every time this bike gets serviced, an experienced mechanic test rides it and all of them say it functions fine. I've never had any other issue with it. I have all the paperwork in terms of maintenance back to when I purchased it. Always got normal service and oil changes. Garaged in heated garage, cement floor with Stabil in gas tank over the winters. I love the bike but I’m getting the urge for a new F800GT. If I can get a better seal selling than trade in, I’ll be happy and I assure you the new owner of this great bike will be too. It runs like a Swiss Watch and is in excellent condition overall. I ride it all the time.
