This rare, low mileage example of the classic HDJ81 Land Cruiser is loaded with factory options plus a host of expedition upgrades and has only 81,100 original miles (130,814 km). The black paint job is about 10 years old and still in fantastic condition. There are a few scratches and rock chips as would be expected from a 25 year old vehicle, but the body is straight, clean and rust free. The interior is in excellent shape, clean and stain-free with the exception of one ¼” hole in the rear seat. Under the hood, a bullet-proof Toyota 1HD Turbo-Diesel engine and Automatic Transmission are backed by a full-time 4wd transfer case and 4.11:1 axles. The Snorkel feeds fresh, cool air to the engine, and a 3” stainless exhaust system assures great performance. This setup delivers over 20mpg on the highway cruises effortlessly at 80mph. This kit was called the Active Vacation Kit - a dealer installed option in Japan, and includes a slide out gas stove, a sink with a water reservoir and electric pump, and storage compartments for kitchen supplies and gear. Fold down the rear seats, and the padded sleeping platform extends to the back of the front seats, with storage underneath. The whole system is modular and easily removed between adventures. For the ultimate in back-country camping comfort, this Cruiser features a Cascadia Vehicle Tents roof-top tent. The CVT tent quickly folds out to sleep three people in comfort and features an optional zip-on lower room for dining, gear storage, or additional sleeping space. Recent maintenance includes timing belt, water pump, diff fluid change, fuel filter, air filter, engine oil and filter, front axle service, and the engine rod bearing update with Australian ACL bearings and new Toyota rod bolts.
