So, up for sale is an excellent project for a mechanic or mechanically inclined owner. I bought this car in February from a friend's body shop, had a minor accident and the owner 'totaled' it to get insurance. I made some repairs (noted below) and rebuilt the title. since then have been saving up for new rims/tires and the 150k mile maintenance on the engine. My job is taking me to England next year, so I'm giving up this project. This breaks my heart. I love Mercedes, and this car is an exceptionally great ride. Details are as follows....The good:Desirable black on black, minor cosmetic issues inside and outEngine runs strong, starts up as it should, runs at consistent temperature and oil pressure Transmission fluid and filter changed. Shifts perfectly. New radiator, front end hosesNew serpentine beltSuspension, a/c and brakes in good shapeAll engine accessories up to scheduled maintenanceEngine has no oil leaks from top end, Fuses and electrical parts tested and are within acceptable resistance (fuel pump, ignition coils etc...)All optional accessories work (traction control, ABS, xenon lights, etc)The bad:Coming up on 150k mile maintenance (if you are a mindful owner, this includes changing the timing chain/tensioner, cam oiler tubes, head gasket, o2 sensors, etc.)Rear passenger window doesn't go downNeeds new rims/tiresBattery is old The ugly:Needs front fender skirtKey has seen better days. The infrared functions and a replacement case can be used (available on eBay for $20)Sunroof needs attention (motor works and opens, but track needs to be cleaned, lubricated. Plastic trim and lining need to be replaced.)A few trim pieces need replacement (can be found cheap on eBay)The interior rear side panels have a wear I hit the trunk latch moving the rims and it needs to be replaced.
