Up for auction is a very low mileage and original 1968 Ford Thunderbird 429 Landau. This T-Bird has 72,474 original miles. The car has several rare factory options including power windows, power seat, power antenna, vacuum trunk release, clock, A/C, Landau package, hidden headlights, rear defroster, and the rare 429 big block. Nearly every power option is still working including the clock which is intermittent. The power antenna is not working as the switch is missing. The interior of this car is in great shape for its age and has just a few minor blemishes. The carpets and seats are in excellent condition. The dash has one small crack in it and there is a hole in the headliner on the driver's side. The power windows will need servicing as the passenger side does not roll down and the driver's side appears to be slightly loose inside of the track. The original radio remains in the car and works very well and has very clear sound. The exterior of the car looks great and still retains a shine, although the car would need a paint job to be show quality as it does have chips and minor scratches. The body is very straight with only two minor dings . The undercarriage including the rockers, floor pans, and trunk pan are all very clean and rust free. The only rust on the car is located on the rear quarter panels behind the rear wheels and a very minimal amount of rust in front of the rear wheels. Both of these areas would be easily repairable as the rust has not protruded into the body any further than the outer skin. The rust has penetrated both inner and outer layer on the drivers rear lip as shown. The Landau top is all original and in near perfect condition with no soft spots or rust underneath. The car is fitted with 16" American Racing Polished Torque Thrust wheels with 215/65/16 BFGoodrich Silvertown redline radial tires with less than 20 miles on them. This car runs and drives incredibly well and has an excellent ride. It has incredibly fast acceleration. All of the lights, including the headlights with vacuum hidden headlight doors and sequential turn signals function perfectly. The 429 engine in this car was completely rebuilt less than 2,000 miles ago and is fully documented with receipts. The exhaust system was also replaced from front to back including mufflers and factory correct resonators. The original owner's manual as well as a folder with over $7,500 worth of receipts for parts and labor performed on this car are included with the sale. The A/C system has just been serviced and charged with R-134A refrigerant ,it is blowing cold but is not switching to facial vent but blowing from defrost and heating vents. The rust visible under the trunk lid is surface rust only. The car also comes with the four original rims and four original Thunderbird wheel covers.
